Sometimes box art artists are very creative, have no clue about the subject matter or just plane get carried away. This can result in some hilarious scenes. In this case it is apparent that the starboard side of the rocket is extremely hazardous but if you pass around the nose and work on the port side it is perfectly safe. Not sure that is how things really work. What is you favourite weird box art?

🤣🤣 that’s so awesome. Man, I just love the old box arts. I’m going to have to go through my box art and see what other gems there are. Remind me to stay on the port side of the rocket while I do.

Probably has something to do with the lead and asbestos shielding inside the rocket. I'm sure it's perfectly safe... Maybe... Probably...

Here's good one. Looks like a kid stole this helicopter. And with this load it would be seriously out of the safe weight and balance envelope.

Not box art, but I thought I'd share this hilarious bit of "potted history" from Trumpeter's KV-2 box side panel: Children at war seem to figure prominently in box art - Trumpeter's IS-3 Stalin has a little kid as the tank commander unleashing it all, while a Michael Bay background explosion rages: gallery.kitmaker.net/data/13066/12511.jpg

Not only is this 5 ton Maultier doing a wheelie but apparently there is some sort of break in interdimensional space going on behind it. That, or the box art was done by M.C. Escher?

The original issue makes it a bit more clear as to what is happening here. Although the kit claims that the Cessna helicopter was considered for missile transport there is not one word of such to be found anyplace I looked.

This one is a bit more subtle unless you know what is happening here. Why are they dropping a sonobuoy? Do they think there may be some Soviet subs nearby? What is keeping that capsule afloat anyway?

No problem on that flying halftrack, it just got hit by a temporally displaced Ukrainian ATACMS.

What we actually have here is a case of movie concept art slipping out to the general public. You see, this is a scene from the sequel to "Inception", where the dream hackers go into the mind of a modeler. The dreams combine his interest of WW II military kits with his fascination of the time travelling tech from "Terminator".

Here we have a kit from the Billiken War of the Gargantua series. It is apparently the Dancing With the Stars Edition.
