If the actual model looks that good, then the hobby has gotten a whole lot better. Man that is a LOT of great detail....and in 1/35..

I can ask to confirm Spud, but I did read the question that was brought up was first refering to the "interest in 1/48" for these and "1/35 - 1/48 WWII" . I will head over and ask the question myself and see what I can dig up!

Spud, and all MSCer's ;D To help with the question of LR WWII Products: I spoke with The owner of Live-Resin/Tank again in response to the WWII question. This winter he is will be starting work on WWII weapons rendering. He will begin with an all German line. We will try and keep this section up to date on all additions and released creations along the way!!!

that Should Keep Chris Happy i cant wait for Live resin to do WWII stuff Well happy mate, I am just hoping that they are made up of component parts such as torso, legs & arms. To me this will allow a little customising of poses and make them even more attractive. Regardless, funds sitting in PayPal just waiting. Chris.

Hey Chris! From what I am understanding there will be separate parts to allow for some of that customizing, but it is a great question! One I will surely ask about for you and others!! I will try and keep you informed!! ;D

HI Frank!
Not sure if these are sculpted in the "traditional" fashion. It is a good question. The 3D rendering makes me believe these could be 3D printed, which would give the real fine, crisp details. I will forward to question and see what I get for an answer.
I am awaiting delivery of some LR real soon! I am sure the questions will be answered soon enough!! ;D

Hi guys, It's a pretty safe bet they will be 3D printed, especially with that level of detail. It seems that more and more figure models are being done with 3D printers. For a perfect example, have a look here: industriamechanika.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=5&zenid=pim17psju4vt42o5r29st21i70"Sasha the Welding Girl" is available in 1/35, 1/32 and 1/24 scales and are (as you can see) all identical. The figure is available in 1/35 and 1/32 because " Due to a slight error, the first print of Sasha was slightly too large for 1/35 scale, but PERFECT @ 55mm for 1/32 scale" (bold and italics mine). Personally, I think this is the way to go for modelling (at least with figures) in the future. The level of detail is only limited by the skills of the 3D modeller, and there are no limits with manufacture on a 3D printer such as there are with the molding process, therefore you can have all the undercuts, recesses, and openings you need without worrying about how you are going to remove parts from the mold. As a draftsman who works with Solidworks, I find the prospect pretty exciting for modelling........ Cheers, Sam

Frank - Yeah, I must admit, I will be really keen to see the end product. I too am toying with a few ideas to get printed, though I don't think there are too many people here in Perth that do it at this stage. I have the 1/35 Horizon Madcat (big sci-fi battlemech with lots of explody stuff), but due to the rarity of the kit and the medium (vinyl) I have decided not to build it. I am thinking of using it as a template and building it in Solidworks then getting the individual components printed. I will need to look at the cost to do it once I have done the model. Still, would be sweet indeed.... T - Yes, while I am not really a figure modeller, she is lovely indeed and I would be tempted for a purchase! I'm sure I could come up with something to build to use her with! I will definitely be keen to hear your opinion on the LR product when you get it in your hot little hands. I await eagerly!.... ;D Cheers, Sam

Thanks Sam...actually can't wait to see these!!
As for the "girl"....she is big for a fig....but with the tanks and skin not to mention the size, she lends herself for a nice testbed to work on a number of things.....body stuff of course, but, chipping and rusting and streking on them tanks!! ;D....a little vignette work!!!! ;D ;D ;D

T - Yes indeed, she would make for a great little diorama by herself, let alone with additional hardware! Looking forward to your review on those figures though! Frank - the software you will need will really be dependent on what you are trying to model. For mechanical type stuff like armor, aircraft, or in my case, the Madcat, you would probably want to gear towards things like Solidworks and Inventor, whereas for figures you would probably want to use a free form modeling package like Rhino. I have to be honest, I really don't know what the best software would be for modeling figures, it's not really my line of work (I work in Solidworks) so you would really need to do some research. Maybe you could shoot an email to LR and ask them, or get T to inquire what software they use. Whatever it is, it seems to do a fantastic job of both free form (people, fabric) and mechanical (weapons). One of the most exciting developments is the possibility of affordable 3D printers. One of the latest developments is with a company called Formlabs. They will be offering a printer which looks like it may be in the range of $3000. While that may sound like a lot (and for most of us it is!) when you consider that only a few years back, the type of printers that deliver this quality were in the tens of thousands, that's a pretty amazing development! For those who are interested, go here and check it out: www.formlabs.com Exciting times ahead for modeling! My own project of building a Madcat in Solidworks will probably be a pretty slow one. I have little time to model (either plastic or digitally) and usually its the plastic that wins out! I will however keep you updated Frank, and i may even start a thread and post some pictures of my project so you can all see how I am traveling. Will give me incentive to do it then! Cheers, Sam P.S. sory for hijacking the thread! We now return you to your regularly scheduled program!

Hi Frank, Sorry mate, but to be totally honest, I'm really not up to speed with all the software suitable for modelling figures. As I said, programs like Solidworks are my cup of tea (it's what I use for work). Having said that, I have heard ZBrush mentioned around the traps, and from what I have seen it's pretty good. I know it is used by ILM and a lot of game developers to create their characters. No idea how to use it though!! Your best bet is to do the usual scouring of the internets and see what you can come up with. Other ones to look at (that I can think of off the top 'o me noggin) may be Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D or Lighwave 3D. Let me know how you go! Hope you are feeling better!! Cheers, Sam

Apparently these new figures have just been released! They are showing on the Live Resin website, but there doesn't seem to be any way to order them direct. Does anyone know if you can order them direct from these guys, or do you need to go through one of their distributors? Had a look on a couple of links (Sprue Brothers and Hobby Easy) but they aren't stocking them yet! Cheers, Sam

Yaroslav's retail site is www.models-hobby.com/I have ordered several times, absolutely fantastic service and parcel is usually with me (Russia to Northern Ireland) within 4 days. In ordered the figures on Monday past and they where dispatched on Wednesday, with the Christmas mail, I expect to see them early next week. Chris.

Groovy, thanks for that Chris! You planning on doing a review of the figures for this site when you get them? I know they will be superb, but would be keen on your evaluation nonetheless! Cheers, Sam

Sam,
I. Certainly will. Also have some multi-cam decals for their greens. Can wait to get my paws on them, a little surgery first to fit my blockage runner but if they are anything like their other products, they will fly together with little clean up.
Chris.

Can´t wait for them, too. My Mailorder here in Germany said, they will be available asap. Hope, they do! Frank Which one you use? I found that prices are often considerably lower in Germany than in Italy....
