I've never been real big on the whole New Year's Resolution thing (I've always believed you should be able to motivate yourself on ANY day of the year), but it being January 1st and all, I figured I'd give it a shot.
I RESOLVE TO FINISH ALL OF THE WORK-IN-PROGRESS BUILDS IN MY STASH.
I didn't realize how daunting a task that would be until I took stock last night/this morning. There are a lot of them...as in, way too many. Some of them may just end up going into the spare parts bin because of various factors (lack of quality, too time consuming, lost interest, or a major flaw in construction/painting), but you would think that the rest should build up pretty fast since they're between 30 and 95 percent done, right? I always used to be so good at starting one build, finishing one build. But in an effort to become "more efficient" by working on one while another had drying paint (or whatever) I got swamped. Time to reclaim the shelf queens!
Not saying I'm not going to start a few new ones...modeling isn't a job after all, just a hobby, and you've got to follow your desires to some extent to keep your progress up. Besides, there's some pretty sweet stuff down in the stash! ;D
Any other resolutions you guys are setting?

Oh, and my other resolution (if I'm not too busy building like a maniac to clear out all of my shelf queens) is to post more here on the MSCF!! Got a decent camera now - which I just need to learn how to use - and TRM gave me a great tutorial on his photo setup and how he edits all of his pics, so now I just need to DO IT, and get some stuff up here. Get ready!

I am going to hold you to that Dupes!!!! Pick one of the wingy things and let us follow along!! Would like a couple pics of the new man cave as well!! As for resolutions..... 1 - Stick with the non-smoking thing! 2 - Spend more quality time with the family!! 3 - Build some models and have some fun along the way!!! oh yeah...and globally rule the world in my spare time from my private spacecraft if the wife lets me!

"I've always believed you should be able to motivate yourself on ANY day of the year"Surely if that was the case, yer wouldn't have any shelf queens? ? Hahaha, touche! I've tended to apply the any-day thing more to my fitness level/dieting etc. I HAVE tried to pull shelf queens down to work on, but always fall back into building for contests after a day or two of that. Going to change! Todd - new man cave pics are ON THE WAY! I may even be able to put something together later today. Let me see what I can do if I'm not picking out a shelf queen instead. Hehehe.

36 sounds like a tall order! Perhaps you should further sub-divide them by stage of completion so you can ensure measurable progress along the way. You can do it!

I don't know about doing ALL of them...but I certainly would like to put a pretty healthy dent in the pile. Hey, they're all halfway built, so it should take less time, right? Right? That and there's always the kits that I reaaaally reaaaaally want to build that I haven't started yet - going to have to let myself crack into one or two of those as well. Now that I think of it, I'm going to have to take a "group photo" of all of the queens to assist in the motivation...

New Year Resolutions never really worked so maybe it will work if I say the opposite...
1. Buy more kits! 2. Don't bother to make diorama bases for all builds 3. Eat more and try to gain more weight 4. Not to share my girlfriends with my MSC buddies

My resolution is to end at least one more build than in 2012. I finished 3 builds in 2012, so this means I'll have to finish 4. Yet I strongly believe in Oscar Wilde's quote: "Good resolutions are simply cheques that men draw on a bank where they have no account"

Took me the better part of an hour to assemble all of the offending kits for the photo-op, but I've started a new thread called "Dupes' Shelf Queens".
