Nowt major - had a little bit of a re-jig in the cave today - managed to score a pair of Ikea cabinets from Evilbay for £30 so I popped down to Christchurch in Dorset to collect 'em this morning! Anyhoo, shifted some stuff around and manged to squeeze it all in: Lookin' like a furniture warehouse.....at least there's room for a lil ol' racing snake like me to slither in!!! New cabinet and shelf unit - new homes for some previous builds: .....and gongage: Modelmaking lathe gets it's own area - this is assembled with the small lathe bed fitted as I don't intend making anything bigger than 10" long - the quality of the little blighter is top notch - Austrian made Shelf space for new builds now!!!! More bench space as everything has been squared away - I now have two building areas...the one on the left is my assembling area and where the piccies get done - the one on the right is my cutting and glueing area - hopefully keep the crap in one spot! So, absolutely no progress on the current build but at least I have a much more organsised area to do it in...... Sweet spot you have there! Jeff

Since everyone else is giving tours I guess I will do mine. Just a little background. December of 2012 we bought a 14' x 80' mobile home and property from the gentleman who bought it from my wife's grandparents. They bought it brand new in 1972. Took 14 months of working every Friday, Saturday and Sunday to get it ready to move in. When my wife's grandparents bought it, their grown daughters would come to visit. If their dad was watching tv, he lost out. So, a year or two later he built a 10' x 20' addition to the mobile home off one of the back doors. This became his man cave before there was even such a word! Fast forward to 2012, and we are looking at what needs to be done and my wife says that I should use her grandfather's man cave as my studio. So, here we go. Computer desk and workbench area. The top is made from the two remaining hollow core doors from the rest of the house. This was taken before we moved in. Modeling and artwork area Airbrush booth that I finally get to vent outside! Computer setup. Secondary monitor for copy and pasting. Handy way to store my Squadron reference books, louvered bi-fold door. Corner shelf for my war movie collection. The count is 160+ movies. And here you can see the display shelves to the right and yes, I have a separate door coming in from the outside. Perfect for sneaking kits in past the wife. The guys in the photo are fellow members of our local model club. We are working on repairing the USS Orleck Museum's hand make replica that they display on the ship. The real ship is moored a few miles away from our house.

This is way too cool... that's something I'd love to do at my local club here. Great man cave by the way especially how you organize the books... never thought about that! Thanks. I got that idea from a high school classmate who is a realtor. She had put something on her facebook page about home organization. Glad to see everyone's hobby rooms and to see some of y'all have furry building buddies. We've got 4 furry children of our own. Here are three of them trying to all fit in the dog bed that is for the schnauzer, Schultz. Beau, the toy poodle, is Schultz's dog. Xander is a chocolate standard poodle and my sweet boy. And this handsome fella is Mac, my son's seizure assistance and therapy dog. He doesn't sense a seizure coming on but he comforts and calms him when he is coming out of a seizure. We adopted him from the local animal shelter 3 years ago. My son was born 3 months early and was exposed to multiple strains of meningitis while in the NICU. He also has hydrocephalus. Between the two he has global brain damage which cause the seizures and give him autistic like behavior. Mac is great at keeping him calm and focused.

I have been fortunate, when my wife and I moved in to our current home the basement was unfinished and I was able to grab a bedroom for my hobby room. One wall of the bedroom was a "wet" wall which allowed me to install a sink in the room. I was also able to install duct work for my spray booth and a large full room exhaust fan. We have been in this home two years now and I still find it hard to believe my luck.

New window and renewed bench, finally! Cheers guys, my setup is rather minimalist compared to your ateliers. I have one table and one shelf in a tiny room! Surprisingly it will take me one afternoon again to get all my stuff sorted back in again. I had to redo the installation of the sun-blind/mosquito netting combination myself, as the way the workers did mount it was cr@p! First there were gaps at the bottom were insects could sneak through, second the lower spool housing was fitted at an angle towards the side rails, so every time when pulled out, the netting would scour on the metal edges and thus get wasted sooner or later. Too bad I was not present when they did install this in the first instance, but I had a nice ride to town with my mum in my MX-5 as part of her birthday present, drinking coffee and hot chocolate at the Danube!
