Ahhhh...dig the skylight. That's the one thing I'm lacking in my basement setup - windows!

That is an extremely nice accommodation there, but knowing my luck an aircraft part would fall through it and ruin my build I was working on. And even worse, on ME! LOL
I'll take a few shots of my crib when I get everything back in it's place.

Yes, daylight is invaluable when it comes to painting. There has to be at least one advantage to work there! Though I have to say I'm slightly jealous when I see the tremendous lavish space some of you have available, I'm dreaming of this all the time. When I'm in the build phase, I take my boxes with tools and place them around me on the floor(!), when I do painting and airbrushing I do the same with my paints and the compressor. When I want to take pictures I have to clean the bench completely to place my blue cardboard background! Sometimes it seems like a giant waste of time, especially when I start searching for something! Jeff, chin up man! Audentes fortuna iuvat - fortune favors the bold!

Thank you Gary! And here it is. The basic set-up, sort of. Did a little muck out and got rid of some old stuff, but some things just won't go... Now it's time to dirty up the place again with some modeling madness!

Be sure to make room for a beer...its a must! You can always add small shelves above the bench...

I think that's what the window is for Andy. To re-supply the beer by helicopter. Jeff

Be sure to make room for a beer...its a must! You can always add small shelves above the bench... Suddenly I know why there is no progress in your 232! 1. Goes to the bench, opens a beer. 2. Searches his brushes and paints, needs another beer. 3. Spills the jar with the thinner, saves the model in panic and has to clean the bench. 4. Needs another beer to calm his nerves. 5. Decides to have a look at the MSC forum, spends 4 hours chatting, drinking beer. 6. Returns to the bench, finds he's too drunk for modeling. 7. Finally lays down on the couch with another beer and decides to call it a day!

Organized chaos is what I tell everyone about my room. I would LOVE to have a corner window but mine is centered which reminds me... I'll show off mine when I finish my update on my sound system. One controller, two amps, one sub and four speakers. LOL Yeah... I like to ROCK! I should have had it done by now but BOTH my shoulders are damaged and I can only lift so much. My modeling has taken a BIG HIT over this too as I have stuff everywhere! LOL I got rid of a sofa and went to a reclining club chair so the sub would fit in it's new spot. Here I am at where the magic happens: Jeff

The basement (The place where I started Coldbasementmodels.com). I like to have at least 4 or 5 major projects and dioramas underway at any one time. I do finish everything in the end. But I may only complete one or two big things each year. I usually don't clean up the space for several reasons. First, it gets back into this state within a day or two. Second, I work better in the pile of mess. If I put away all my tools, it means I'll need to go back and find them. If I have a general idea about where on the tabletop I can find my tools, things happen faster. (Well, it works for me, anyway.) A big drawer with the heavy weight slides is a nice work platform because it can be pushed out of the way when you need more space. A standing island. Try working from a standing position. It has advantages.

John: Got to agree about the mess. I too seem to work in a mess at all times. If I clean it up, it just appears again within a couple of days. I seem to work best is a clear space of about 12 inches square.
