Ever had one of those stains or marks that you just can’t get rid of no matter how hard you try? ;-) Well I’m most certainly one of those…stai…never mind you can’t get rid of me basically I’ve had some computer issues basically my computer is like a government KAPUT! It will never work ;-) ((LOL)) to top it off my college internet bans this site funnily enough Scratchmod the original site is band so to get on here I have to pinch either Mart’s computer or my Girlfriends….LOL I’m going to just put all my builds bar the Vickers which can be found here: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=scratchbuilds&thread=1009&page=1 To start off with I’ll get going with the BW Models BV 202.. Bandvagn 202 (Bv 202) is a tracked, all-terrain vehicle developed by Volvo BM, a subsidiary of Volvo, for the Swedish Army. The vehicle is formed of two rubber Kegresse track units with a multi-directional pivot in between. The front unit contains the engine and gearbox through which power is delivered to the front and, via a prop shaft in the pivot mechanism, the rear tracks. A hydraulic ram on the pivot "bends" the vehicle in the middle to steer it - there is no braking of track units for steering as on conventional track laying vehicles. The controls are a conventional steering wheel on the left hand front of the vehicle. The Bv 202 carries driver and commander in the front unit and 8 troops in the trailer unit. It can be adapted for other, different, applications. Production started in Arvika in 1964 and ended in 1981. The Bv 202 has since been succeeded by the Hägglunds Bandvagn 206.The Bv 202 was designed to transport troops and equipment through snow or boglands in the northern parts of Sweden. The last Swedish units to use this vehicle were the Cavalry, who found that the manual gearbox Bv 202 was much quieter than the automatic transmission Bv 206. The Mk1 Bv 202 is powered by an 82.5 bhp (61.5 kW) Volvo B18, the MK2 by the 97 bhp (72 kW) B20. It has less ground pressure than a skier and is fully amphibious. The Bv 202 was used by NATO forces, and replaced the older Swedish Snow Trac ST4 Over-snow Vehicle which was employed by the British Royal Marines under NATO. The BW models kit which I picked up from Telford last year was…er….pants! the casting isn’t great the cab was warped bit’s missing but I wanted to build it non the less….The cab interior was built of only five parts which took me all of two minutes to construct up and paint with Nato Green. The remaining parts were added to the tractor unit the cab, wing’s rear section and running gear you can see how poor the casting is from these shots..I’ve decided I will do another one of these but next time I will replace most of it with scratch built parts…. I then started to working on rear section which fitted worst than Susan Boyle at weight watchers!.... I had to add lots of filler and replace the window frames which look out of scale but hey ho... Primer went on in the name of grey and then black are by Halfords the black will start the two tone camo for the Falklands... The Camo ...I first drew the camo out using a pencil and reference on prime portal…I attacked the Bv with blue tack and this is the result of what it looks like covered in blue tack ;-) The moment of truth…If anyone has sprayed white they will understand it can be a pain…I managed to get a decent covering in two coats just by applying and altering the PSI on the compressor to get a decent mixture. The white needs touching up around the edges and the air bubble will need to be removed… Attack of the blue tack... That's how she stands at the moment ! I will be using this blog to add more stuff as it get finished and added to my bench...It's good to be back on this site and if you all have critiscm or pointers please tell me I want to get better and evolve my skills thanks for reading my jibberish ;D Jaymes

Braille Scale had its place, especially with if you already got the hang of it, detailing would also improve and test your skill as a modeler and a great shelf saver

Thanks Eastrock the shelf space don't bother me as it just gets packed into boxes for shows when I'm done really I like this scale because it's more of a challenge detail wise and I like being pushed, plus I finish stuff in this scale where as with 1.35th I get bored really easy with projects.

I think you have met Rafael in MM, his also a braille scale modeler... his also a good fellow.
I also did some braille A/C but not in armor, I still got the M1 SEP sealed. maybe in a future will do a tusk out of it. I still need to practice a lot.
Cheers!!! ER

Jaymes I agreed he can do some excellent details for braille scale, even the tiniest part... and the leopard, imagine the slat armor he did it piece by piece just like the chally. as for me, I'm still need some practice in 1/35 before I could start in braille... my point of reference would be the eduard slat armor and the Legend Tusk, finger cross.

Hi Wouter you crept in then with your post! How's the train driving job going? thanks yeah you could say it's tiny! The Vickers is a lot smaller than this though (Lol)Its about time I stuck an update on here again I've been a little under the weather of late and life's kinda got in the way as it does..excuses aside the Vickers and Bv 202 have progressed a little further since last time. I touched up the white and black on the 202 and painted a couple of the wheel hubs white to break it up a little. I still need to paint the tracks source a set of number plates and glazing for the windows. I'll get on with painting the tracks later tonight. As for weathering it will be simple and minimalist. Comments welcome

Hi Wouter you crept in then with your post! How's the train driving job going? Comments welcome Train driving is goin' great mate! Half of May I'm having the final exams and then I'm a 'full' shifting engineer . Today had to go with a driver who actually drives people. Since I'm in my job am allowed to drive max. 60km/h this one went 140....bit of a new sensation ;D Great photos again mate, and so clear, something which ain't easy to achieve! Cheers

Thanks Boo I'll sure check it out!. not done a lot of modelling lately been getting ready for interviews the joys for Uni and what not. Managed to get some painting done on the BV 202 the tracks were painted German Camo Brown as a beginning point for the weathering I know they should be a rubber colour but all will be revealed . I need to touch up the white where a bubble appeared I'll touch that up today. Cheers Comments welcome... Jaymes

Hi Jaymes, On the DIY Modellers aids thread Bill kindly posted a link to a guide for building a cheap photo booth using a cardboard box as the frame work. It works brilliantly as can be seen by the photos the guy takes on the guide. Here's a link to that guide hereI made one, and it's not so great as it may seem on his pictures. Unfortunately a lot of the final result comes from the camera and its capabilities. Jaymes, very nice work on a very tiny subject. As I alway say to a friend of mine who's deep into braille scale, I keep on asking me how do you see what needs to be done. I found 1/48 too small for the armor...

Thanks Bill! Prof I reckon you've got a point with that when I begin to weather it I'm hoping it will blend the camo together though... Bull thank you Braille scale isn't that fiddly well not modelling armour but I have a railway in this scale and I must admit that's far more difficult than plastic modelling so its nice and relaxing to alternate between the two... Thom thanks buddy... Update time! I spent two hours last night building the new Airfix Cromwell MK IV in those two hours its now reached the stages of primer....lol...The kit decipts landing on D-Day with wading stacks...No filler was needed to build it which for an Airfix kit is abit of an achievement in itself. Its nice to see such an important brand re establishing itself... The tracks and running gear was built as one unit to be removed from the hull for ease of painting the lot...The tracks being a single piece was a really nice touch... comments welcome I'm looking forward to having ago at colour modulation in this scale... I had some news today aswell ! I got offered a place doing illustration at Wolverhampton Uni! Cheers guys.. Jaymes
