Thanks guys The body is from the Russian infantry Mastebox set, the head is a Hornet one. I should start painting the skin tomorrow, but I'm still trying to find out what colours to use for the uniform and all the accressories.

Thanks for all the positive feedback Today was a day away from the bench, but the deadline is getting close so I figure I'll have to start. The dio is going to the one and only show I have here. It's a non competitive one, we're just trying to make everybody know we have a club. I hope to be able to post tomorrow the short how to I promised.

Just before going to have some bench time, I'll post a short description of how I did that base.
First of all, I bought a photo frame that inspired me. Be careful to check that the size of the inner frame fits your project.
I then took some 2mm thick forex and, carefully cut the sides. I decided that a 7cm height would do, but this is up to you. Just take care not to make it too low, otherwise it won't be easy to fit the pictures.
To build the "box" I taped the corners with Tamiya masking tape, then glued them with cyano gel glue.
When the glue had set, I sprayed black all the box with Army Painter's black primer.
I checked all my photo references for evocative pictures, and chose a bunch of them I liked more. Be sure that their sizes and shapes are uneven, to prevent the sides from being boring.
I then opened Paint, set the rulers visible, and traced a line at 7cm and another at 14cm. Using the spaces I pasted all the pictures I previously selected within the boundaries, and printed them on common 70g paper.
I carefully cut all the images and pasted them on the sides trying to achieve an uneven finish. I used CA gel again.
That's it, and believe me, it's easier said than done.

Thanks for the how-to on the base. This is something I want to do for a couple of queens I have.

Thanks Rob, you will surely achieve a better result I went on and installed wheels and tracks. They still need mud and dirt, but they're mostly done. Hope you like it...
