Hi Mac excellent work, Its turning out to be an interesting build, got me hooked, just one question what have you used for the brick and stone work on the bridge, are they pre made sheets you see in model rail way shops?

Dennis was great to see you too mate and your figures on the table i do love those yank cav ones you did. That bust needs a few more grey hairs and its a dead ringer. Tom i did get the pre printed foam from a railway shop ,but in Germany i hope to find some in the uk.
Ski still having problems will move to sky on Tuesday, i will try and do some stuff on my lap top. I have taken pics as i went along so i have updates. I have painted the bridge metal work and am now rusting it up things are going well so hope to update soon. been getting odds and sods for this to.

well i messed that script up but at least i am posting again. . DSC07389 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .heres the railings underway i used brass dome pins from ship building to add the detail. once i started i could not stop...............yer right what a pain however after seeing the lengths Dicky goes to on scratch stuff i was never gonna get away with a cheap knock up. . DSC07388 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. oh the fun aint gonna do this for a while. Well i can never stay away from paint for long. One new thing i tried out was working with foam board carving my own cobble road my first attempt was more brick ,but this worked out well as you can see i went back and recarved and it gave a more in scale rustic feel. . DSC07392 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .In the middle the untouched bigger stones jusat never sat right for me glad i made the effort. . DSC07396 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. the foam is great to work with fast and simple heres how i made a quick gutter. . DSC07399 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. just scureded it with some pipe. well i have loads to update but also to build more to follow. Rgs Mac

DSC07406 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. even the tracks got the treat ment theres 12 parts to each clamp. . DSC07405 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. next up the bridge supports were i did some damage with the aid of DAS clay. Rgs Mac

The bridge looks almost real, Mac. I agree with you, foam is a great base to start with scratchbuilding walls and roads...

Thanks guys i felt a little false the last two weeks promising pics and not having a computer to post with. well now i am with the bridge supports i went with a steel frame covered in brick and concrete. The forward support has received some damage the bridge part has beed destroyed. my bridge is under repair awaiting the 2nd span. . DSC07400 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. TO do the damage i first cut out some of the brickwork i then carved some of the foam away pressed in some DAS clay then with a wet toothbrush stippled the clay later while wet i added a little brick pattern. . DSC07400 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .To see if it worked i gave it a quick lick of paint. . DSC07408 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .This was better than i had hoped for. All of this takes time i added some darker almost black paint i drybrushed this on i then added some water marks this is just the start of the weathering. . DSC07413 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. I also did the same with the embankment wall to get a crack was simple i just cut the sheet in half and clued it back on the base board a little apart. . DSC07415 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. next up the dreaded stone work.......................all those stone colours each brick on its own. rgs Mac

Excellent work Mac.It is all ways more fun when you make the components to a model yourself. It's shows in the level of detail that you are adding that you are enjoying this .That's what it's all about mate. This will be superb.

Thanks Leon glad you approve heres some cladding after the first fade i have also added the top stone work this was made out of DAS clay and will be shapped when dry. . DSC07417 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. once dry a quick sand and reshape this is very easy material to work with. . DSC07416 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Next up the bridge and the start of a big rust project........................well this is the home of rusting models after all. i never got photos of the bridge primed or the basic rust fields before hair spray. pics up in a bit. Right then the rust my bridge has received bomb and fire damage so shes a poor old lady. This is at the point were i have just washed paint away using a stubby brush and running tap water' i wont go into detail as this method has been well covered. i used halfords red oxide as my basic undercoat i then mixed different dark and light shades with Mr Hobby colour of rust gave the job lot a hairspray cover then sprayed on top with a medium gray with a little blue added. the railings were done in one simple white coat. . DSC07420 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. . DSC07421 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .THE AREA ABOVE WILL HAVE A LOT MORE DETAIL LADDERS TOOLS ECT. . DSC07418 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. DETAIL OF THE UNDERSIDE. this is just the start of the rusty bridge work hope you like it and thanks for following Rgs Mac .
