My Mums bloke had the Apache as a pressie and asked me to build it for him..I got kind of carried away. The figures are the new Airfix modern British troops. The dio is inspired by Operation Jugroom fort, where 4 Marines went in strapped to two Apaches. The figures on the stub wing are my first attempt and remodelling figures. The base is layered MDF followed by a layer of papier mache with a final covering of wall filler. the water if clear plasticard sprayed brown underneath then i used clear slilicon sealant to simulate the surface. Its my first attempt at water and i'm seriously chuffed with it. i Brought the vegetation from a railway modelling site.

I read the book 'Apache',by Bill Macy, who was one of the Apache Crews for this rescue.Unfortunately, the Marine concerned, whos name was Ford,I believe, was already dead when he was picked up,but the Apache crews didn't know this at the time. The crews of all 4 Apaches involved in this engagement, went above and beyond..........Good to see this portrayed!

His name was Coporal Matthew Ford RM.. I read the same book. It's where my inspiration came from. i tried to get the two flying figures into the same positions as in the pic in the book
