Evenin all. After losing my mojo for a bit i've decided to finish one of my many shelf queens. The USS Voyager it is, Though she won't be USS Voyager by the time I actually finish her. I love personalising models. This has lots of windows for me to play with. I've got some Royal Navy 1/350th figures for crew so i've changed the scale of the ship already. Not sure what it was to start with anyway. I'm going put in a bridge, an atrium, MacDonalds and a swimming pool so far. And i'm lighting it. The lighting kit for the kit is nearly 60 quid, so thats a no go. So, 3 packs of Xmas LEDs off fleabay (£8, bulky and difficult to route but well worth the effort. I've also drilled (with a pin vice, that ruined my fingertips) After scavenging round i managed to pilfer a small LED stand thingy for putting clear whatevers on. It cycles through 4 colours so i'm using that behind the deflector dish The bridge structure is made from dual sheets of clear plastic with grease proof paper between them. The displays on the back wall are small bits of old photo negative with the visuals scratched on with a pin. Theres 50 odd LEDs in the dish to light it so the bridge deck and walls will glow, providing the lighting with having to faff about too much

This is the atrium. Its milliput land with blue paint mixed with PVA for the water. The trees are painted cottonbuds, the benches are trimmed cocktail sticks and the flowerbed is blobs of oil paint. It will be put into the lower hull and only visible through small windows. For the hanger and shuttle im lighting those with fibre optics lit from one of the many LEDs. This is the paint scheme im going for. It follows panel lines simply to make it easier to paint. I'm going to use diffent shades of black and white for the colours. As for a name, the only desent i can come up with from the voyager letters is Ogre.. Seemd quite apt seeing as what i'm doing with her.

These pics are of the build how it is now. First up is the lighting rig for the dish. it'll be sandwiched between greaseproof sheets to soften and spread the glow. Next up is the bridge with crew. This is the populated atrium. The out of focus figures are, a couple arm in arm on a bench. An officer standing looking out of the window. a bloke sat reading a book. a man fishing (with rod) and finally a bloke waving his arms about on the hill top (If you listen really closely you can hear him singing The Sound of Music). This is how its going to sit in the hull.. Theres 2 LEDs on each wall to light it and its the Great Wall of China as the background. And this is the view of it as it will be seen when its done.

I'm putting some sort of engineering space in where the atrium was. Attachment Deleted I've got 3 LEDs coming in through the top to light it. Attachment DeletedThe LEDs are covered with the top of a shower gel bottle. I'm also having some glowing trunking type things coming through the walls.

I've spent this evening enjoying the thunder storms and adding spare photo etch from my Chieftain to the dish, just to add a bit of fine detail. So, lots of glued fingers later this is were i'm at.
