Hello all, While I do have a number of projects on the go at the moment, they are nowhere near the painting stage, so I decided to start something quick that I could start painting quickly (haven't used my ab in a while lol). Anyway, you all probably know that the Germans placed panther turrets on concrete bases for defending regions from the middle of the war onwards. My thinking is that it's quite possible that they either made one with a tiger turret, or planned to - no idea how feasible that would be, but it seems possible, and I have no panther turrets. Here's where I am at right now: I'm leaving this sat for camping, and coming back the thurs after that (6 days), but I'll try to get this finished by the end of he month. As always, thanks for looking! -Oliver

Thanks guys - I needed a mini project to do, and this was perfect. Relating to camping, it should be pretty fun - we finally bought a popup tent trailer, and we're going to be doing some fun stuff over the week (I'm thinking I might bring my r/c for use on the beach etc). I've just now painted the sides in black (only the first coat, don't worry ), and added some putty to the "concrete" to give it some texture. Tomorrow ill be doing a fair bit of painting if I have any time - the sides again, the concrete, and making a better rust coat for the turret. I'll also add some dirt to the top if the paint dries in time. Once I get back, I'll paint and weather te tiger turret properly and ad grass, details, etc. -Oliver

Thanks bill . Despite helping pack for most of today, I got a bit done on both the base and the turret. To start with, I have the turret another coat of paint, and gave The "concrete" one too: I then gave the concrete a wash (at the same time I managed to tip about half the bottle over ): I also realized that there was a seam visible on the barrel, and filled it - being too lazy to ab it ( it will be barely visible), it turns out that Vallejo airbrush paint actually covers well for brush painting too (yay): Since I took the pics, I've sealed everything with tamiya flat clear from a rattle can, which means that I will be able to make some progress as soon as I get back next week.)- I'm liking the concrete as it is atm - other than adding a bit of moss in cracks, watt do you guys think there is left to do to it? Thanks fir looking! -Oliver (Btw, sorry for the excess of typos - typed all this from my iPod).

Alright, there was a lull in the packing, so here's an uber quick update: I managed to glue the dirt on. I think I'll leave it with lots of dirt showing And a few tufts of grass, to represent that it was just put in recently. Pics: -Oliver

Thanks Gary! its been a fun project so far- perfect for me to practice my weathering once i reach that stage . I got the basecoat done today, as well as the decals. I did do HS cjhipping, but overdid it a bit, so I brush painted the "rusty" bits with the base colour - i'll do chipping the "classic" way. Pics (the micro-sol etc made the paint look a bit bumpy; its not...I hope ) : since those pics I;ve added a clear coat to seal everything for the whitewash I plan to do (that = snowy, which means i'll be able to have bits of the dirt showing, which is good, as i like how its turned out), as well as to level out any problem to do with the decals: (still wet) If there's any more inconcistancies etc, they;ll be fixed by the application of the chipping fluid and whitewash. As always, thanks for looking, guys! -Oliver

Thanks Leon and prof . I've found the panther emplacements interesting for quite a while, and is I've been feeling like doing a kinda-what-if sort of project for a while, this was easy and fun so far. I'm liking how its turning out . I'm going to be spraying Vallejo chipping effects on in a bit, but as a small section of the clear coat crazed (easily fixed with sandpaper, and didn't loose too much paint), I now have to wait for the bits I had to touch up to dry.

Sorry for the lack of response - been busy with work etc. I've decided to pause this until I can get some ( read: 50 bucks worth) weathering supplies etc from my lhs next Thursday.
Thanks again for the compliments,.
Gary, I do for sure recommend the fluid - it works just as we'll as hairspray, but it is easier to control where it goes, it doesn't smell, and its hard to add too much and "flood" the model.
