Hi Joe,
take care, the Academy interior is wrong for this version, because it's from an A1. TMD had an early interior once, if you want to do it.
Cheers, Tobi

well folks thanks for the encouragement. after some searching i did find a different interior but not sure if it is right. any experts out there with a pic or two? day one for this build ended up being sat. i did get some things accomplished. most of the pieces are attached to the lower hull. also started on the indi links for the tracks. five hours to clean them up and then assemble one side. wow. another reason i dont do much armor.
pics will follow at some point.

No pics, but there were two variants of the M3 fielded early on.
One is the kit you have, a basic M3 with the raised commanders cupola. This was called a "high top" by the Marines. There was an interim design produced just prior to the M3A1. It too was called M3 but had an completely different interior with no turret basket. Marines called it "flat top" as there was no raised cupola. That variant was a complete mess.

based on the pic above the subject does appear to have a raised commanders cupola. so the interior may be right for it.

well work commenced. following the instructions i began with the bogies and the suspension. in addition some parts went onto the lower hull. now i did use school glue so i could take them apart and paint the black on the wheels. the bogies are just dryfit into their spaces. then as there is no real place that works on the tracks i began to put them together. i went with the kit indies rather than the band tracks. one side ready to go and will work on the other in the next few days. there you have it where i am. comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. joe

based on the pic above the subject does appear to have a raised commanders cupola. so the interior may be right for it. joe According to Steven Zaloga in his book "Modelling the Stuart tank", page 5, turret basket only entered production in summer 1942! You'll therefore need the interior without basket and with sponson machine guns, which is an early USMC version, sorry! As I said, Academy interior is wrong... Cheers, Tobi

well progress is progress. some progress to report. worked some on the interior. added some white stuff. added some green stuff. fabricated a couple of things. so the update. i added some of the structures visible in the pictures that have been shown to me. i also added some of the prominant riveting seen in the pictures. the rivets are stretched sprue cut small and glued. the white is assorted thickness of styrene sheet. first the interior out of the lower hull. and then dry fit in the lower hull to make sure things fit ok. based on what i see i am pretty happy with this. btw you will see the lower hull is now darker, yep i did some painting but not sure i like the way it is. might redo it. comments, critiques, and criticisms are encouraged. joe
