Hello All, Well a few months back I acquired a new tool, this coupled with my 25 years of 3D modeling skills should bring some interesting opportunities I hope. Already making parts. Close-up of parts. More parts. Cheers, Thom Models Impossible

I'm curious to see what you will be able to get from it. It's something I will get sooner or later

Can I lean on you to do some commission work for me? It would be for MY use and not to sell but there are some things I can think of. I do have $$$ and don't want anything for free. BTW, what does this magical box costs? What material does it "print" out and is it very grainy and need to be sanded any? Anywho... kudos! Jeff

Hi Thom- Looks like a nice set up!
I have to put in a plug for Thom! I've used Thom for some 3D modeling work and I have been amazed what he can do.
If you need something drawn up in 3D and printed Thom can do a beautiful job for you.
Steve

WOW! Interested to hear how it works out for you. Was reading reviews at Amazon, and most of them were "less than stellar" when it came to customer service, etc.
Got any pics of stuff you've printed?

Thanks for the intrest and well wishes guys, I'll be posting more about the printer and my plans for it soon as I believe there is a lot of mis-information being spread around on what these can and will do for the hobby in general. I'll also post up some pictures of some of the parts that I have been working on as well as the 3d models as well. Of course the NE crews can bend my ear at Armorcon this year as well on this subject. Steve thank you sir for the kind words, very much appreciated. pantherf(Jeff) IM is inbound sir.. Cheers, Thom

Nice toy Thom! Would be interested to hear how fine you can get the detail with the MakerBot. If I'm not mistaken, they use the FDM method, correct? Would be keen to hear whether you think this would have the finesse to do 1/72 type details. Always figured SLA was the way to go, especially for the small scale stuff, but I understand that it is somewhat more expensive. Correct? As a Solidworks modeller, I have been keen to dabble in 3D printing, but have lacked both the time and finances to persue it with any seriousness. All I can say is that I am a little envious!! Keen to see what you can show off! Cheers, Sam Oh, by the way, haven't been over there in a while, but there was a guy over on ARC who was modelling up and 3D printing a Mil Mi-6 in 1/35(!!!). Modelling was being done in CATIA and was breathtaking. Last I saw he had done a test print of the cockpit section. T'was freaking huge!!!!
