1/16 KV2 (rc)

So folks, been a while since I was on here , got a lot of reading to do I se.

But I have been working a little something. I picked up a 1/16 scale rc KV2 some time ago,and set about transforming it back to a green monster again.

The captured German was cool, but I wanted a real green mean machine, so the first task was to sand of as much of the old withe Wash I could.






Also the coupla needed to be changed. A few 1/16 shops has a resin part for that.




I broke out the AK primer(this primer is growing on me the more I use it) to get a feel for how the turret would look like.

Then adding a few weld lines and a few thin coats of primer once more



Before adding color to the Turret (and later lower hull) I tried out 3 brands. All worked really well, but I'm kinda sold on Tamiya + L Thinner in general. I really like how it flows and dries. the humbrols is fine to, but the bottles are a pain .




But for ease of use and indoore smell I went With AK 4BO set this time.

While turret was resting, I began on the lower hull.

As With any other scale, one get ton's of updates to this scale to, so some shopping .

I alos picked up a Aber oild drum to se how it would turn out vs the resin one.

A few bullet holes was what it needed









after some Paint and a few washes this was how it turned out.

So Beast here is how the lower hull came out With the 4BO

First some AK primer.




And then after a few day's rest, broke out the CM set







and final outcome before filters and Washes

For filters I got a set from Mig - sin series.




P244 - Green (for use over lighter green base coats)
P245 - Brown (for use over darker green base coats)
P246 - Grey (for use over brigher green base coats)

So With that in hand I got to work. First time I do work With filters so I added and blended ,and just had fun. Also added a few chips here and there, but is not my strong side, so I kept ot to a minimum







Turret is still to come



I wanted to get a little more play in the colors,so some Heavy thinned oil was added at random spot's

time to get a little update here on this one.

Powder time . both AK and Mig used, along With some AK thinner. Added some HO model Railroad static grass in the mix just for fun.

So a few weeks ago I took delivery of the full metal lower hull and Wheels for this rebuild. Nice piece of hardware.Adds some serious weight to the tank With all parts installed( belts Wheels and lower hull in metal)

After a few day's ( I overspray'd both Wheels and lower hull With pigment fixer) I added some more 'splashing' and oil stains

Loading the brush With a little amount of AK fresh mud and 'pulling the trigger'





On the hull it self I was not 100% happy With how all the splash's came out, so With a big soft brush I 'wiped ' it to remove some, and With Vallejo russian green+ some of the light greens from the AK 4BO set I gently added a few spots here and ther with my airbrush to cover some of the overly done splashing on the side of the hull

Well last night I got around to try making tarp the 'John Tolcher ' way. got some tea bags and glued it Down to a sprue.

Not quite Tholcer Q over it yet, but much better than my first atempt with water and Wood glue and napkins

The air type vallejo was to thin , but With ordinary I got the rubber like finish.Once dry I will play With some pigments for that dusty look.

I will blend it later on With the other paintjob, maybe covering the 'a tad to big bolts' With mud , hehe
