Wow flying on the 43! Just about ready for some paint on that I think. The Ferret is my favourite KFS build so far but I would like to do the Saladin at some stage. Book marked and watching Tony

Tanks for the feed back. Well battled on over the week end now 3 builds going on with a forth starting to day. Well got some internals paint on the 432 built a great lump of the saladin and camed a ferret. . DSC08736 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. I primed in Gray. then added the silver, left for 24hrs added the tan which I mixed up a little dark to be lightened during weathering and the white to the NBC ducting this was all sprayed free hand then sharpened with a brush. . DSC08737 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. I DSC08738 by macmcconnell, on Flick I painted the interior silver with Xtra Color silver. This is a great colour one that Noel found. .Well with Diana feeling a bit left out I moved operations down stairs while she watched Saturday X factor AND strictly. . DSC08735 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .So the Saladin began AKA Noels Nemesis. Now I like Howards kits, but the suspension on this is not for the faint hearted it does state that for working suspension you have to take extra care. That should read extra extra extra care and then some. . DSC08734 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. The linkage for the first and second road wheels has to be added at the moment its to long. .Well after having my patents tested Sunday morning saw some paint hit the ferret, Now as I am under Noels Instructions for his Ferret its rather bright this is what happens when old school soldiers get near bright paint. . DSC08731 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Noels Excuse its the RAC sports car. . DSC08732 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Just after this photo was taken the gloss was added ready for decals. . DSC08740 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Above the 3 builds as they stood this morning..................they look simple and small but they are great builds, the ferret is a wonderfull kit I can see a rusty one comin up. Rgs Mac

Nice looking rear! A few things I have found on my 43 build which you may find useful: The circular disc next to the document box is also padded so needs a lick of that tan paint. One thing I noticed was that when installing the seats in the back the ones on the left are rather tight, I found that pushing the end ones slightly out gave a bit more clearance in the middle. When you get round to installing the steering gearbox the instructions are wrong in that the lifting eyes should be inline and not facing each other. Am liking the tan colour whats is it? Tony

Thanks Tony Other than 8 weeks on BATUS I HAVE NO 432 KNOWLEDGE. If you ever build a Saladin I can give you some pointers. The pictures you posted show a lot of white on the real time 432 is that normal?. For the padding I used Tan and added some Orange to deepen it. Once again thanks for the pointers your a gent.

Hello mate,
I have even less knowledge but if I spent more time building and less time reading I would get far more stuff finished!
What I managed to find out was that after a certain date if a vehicle went for a major base workshop overhaul which included full strip down and shot blasting of hull they were then repainted with white interiors. I can't remember the date though! (MK2/1) but would think late 80's/ early 90's. Long enough ago that some of the white ones are now in private hands (as per my pics). Not every vehicle has gone through the programme so by my reckoning depending on dates both would be right!

Nice looking rear! The circular disc next to the document box is also padded so needs a lick of that tan paint. Tony If memory serves(It WAS a long time ago),that circular plate wasn't always padded up,so Mac is ok with what he has.On the 434's,there was a lever mounted in that area,to engage tho PTO for the jib.It may also have been a similar thing for some of the 432's did have winches fitted in the back,as sort of recovery vehicles. I'm prepared to stand corrected,at any time.

Steve as Chris said no offence that and the fact my Bruv payed for them for his collection. Tony we know our Kit pains I share your pain with wiring. Luigi glad to see you aboard. . DSC08757 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. Let the fun begin. Well most of the wiring was simple I just put everything on cocktail sticks drilled loads of holes and threaded the wire through. Once holes drilled sprayed radio boxes green and engine room stuff black. All colours done threaded black wire through with no need to paint. /. DSC08760 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. This really speeds up time I cracked this lot this morning. . . DSC08758 by macmcconnell, on Flickr. .I have loads more to add ,but were heading the right way. Thanks for looking in I do have some sanding to do round the hatches its not been missed I just don't see the point in doing it now. Mac
