Celticwerks and Joe Farina Enterprises will be hosting a modeling seminar April 15th, 2012 in Braintree, Massachusetts (USA). The venue is the Disabled American Veterans facility at 788 Liberty Street, Braintree, MA. Scratchbuilding and Painting Industrial Ruins-Here are some shots of what each participant will be making! Starting with Joe Farina Enterprises Chimney Base We'll be cutting circles and 90 degree angles in styrene: Adding weld beads: Learning how to bend brass wire into grab handles and how to glue them into position without leaving monsterous blobs of glue behind. With some Joe Farina Enterprises handwheels we'll add some valve positioners, then scratchbuild a junction box with bolt heads and a piece of solder conduit. I added a Celticwerks piping elbow (new product), some evergreen styrene tubing and painted her up! Base colors: The finished piece- ready for a factory ruin. Check out the weld beads and the oil dripping from that valve stem! The piece was designed to allow us to demonstrate key techniques. All applicable to many area of vehicle modeling, or diorama making. Cutting circles, and 90 degree angles, making weld beads, casting texture, bolt heads, rivets, adding brass handles, and conduit. Seminar attendees will build the piece shown and paint the Joe Farina base. Seminar seats will be $35 US in advance- and include all the materials you will need to build the piece- a bunch of freebies and Lunch. Cash bar and vendors will of course be available. Sponsors include Joe Farina Enterprises, Celticwerks and Vallejo. Hope to see the locals there! Interested in attending? Contact: info@celticwerks.net Steve

Nate-
Man I wish! :-)
You know there are PLENTY of far more talented people out there. All you need to export is the format. I should point out that Rob Ferreira did the Scratchmod event combining demos like he had seen in Germany, with an open bar, and his wife's authentic German cooking! (Top that!) The first of its kind that I am aware of!

Sounds like another fun time Steve. I will plan this in if I can. it's ten days before the AMPS Nats in Indiana. I hope to have the JT dio done before then. Yep the scratchmod event was the test bed and I think the first in New England. We all had a great time ( I hope) and hope there will be more in the future.

Dicky- I don't know what is more far fetched- you winning the lotto, or you flying to the US thinking that you could learn something about scratchbuilding from me? If you want to fly over and hold a class I'll be in the front row! Steve

Dicky- if you make it over you better have a speech ready when I yield the floor!
Last few stragglers are coming in! This is going to be a good time! :-)
I cast 60 handwheels and 40 pipe elbows tonight.... same again tomorrow and I will be all set. Then chop up styrene and buy some brass rod.....
Lots to prepare!!!

Chris- guys from the Forum.... can't name names without permission. Todd doesn't like people to know we are friends- :-) But there are 4 not including myself..... and I am pretty sure I'll be there! :-) There are seats remaining- but I am ordering food tomorrow and then the door is officially closed. Won't be able to make this one Steve, you know why., the big show right after that event. Also we have had tickets to an annual club event on that same day. Next time I hope.

Guys- I woke up this morning at 3:30 am and couldn't sleep. Lists of items to pack and pickup on the way. I am wiped out! It was a great time! Let me tell you- some of the pieces produced (Chris's among them) put my example to shame. Great time with good friends! :-) I'd do it again Steve
