Hi there,
well here we go then, I started this build at the end of Dec. beginning of Jan. and therefore call it my first build of the year
The Kits:
the first thing that is wrong is that the Trumpeter kit is the '72 version which should have the OMSh and not the provided RMSh tracks:
Luckily I had a couple of sets of the correct style track in the stash.
The Start:
and the start of the hated PE, and I don't mean physical education
Rear bin:
Front bits:
Be careful which glue you use on the tracks. It appears that the trusted Revell Contacta have changed their
recipe. Until now I had no problems with this and Trumpeter tracks, but on here I used a new jar of glue and
got the dreaded track shrinkage:
I had to pin the tracks with brass rod in the end.
More glacis parts, the water deflector was scratch built from plastic card:
Right hand fender with fuel cells and plumbing:
Be careful here as Legend will have you join the fuel lines together, they must lead into the hull
at this point:
Fenders, turret, turret basket, stowage bin and other bits:
The real 50.cal mount:
The Legend part is just no way
Here is my scratched part and the Legend part:
The Legend 50 cal went into the bin and I used the cool Academy 50 cal, with a couple of changes. I'll show
this at the end!
The commanders 30.cal mount also went into the bin along with the ammo box holder and ammo box:
Middle 30.cal with scratched mount, Kit ammo box, Academy 30.
Painted running gear with primed fenders:
Primer, this is Humbrol 66 olive drab:
First coat of Model Master 2138 Israeli sand grey plus the janush stripe on the barrel:
Lightened paint and detail painting started:
Chipping:
Hand painted markings, and believe me these look 100 times better than the real ones
First dusty wash:
Second dusty wash and dry brushing
Ammo belt for the 50.cal:
Fuel and oil stains:
Sights:
Done:
Ok that's it I hope you like my first build here.
