I gave the base a coat of automotive primer from a spray can. This will help with paint coverage since I will do most of the painting by brush. Since I will be using an oil wash in the weathering process. A flat clear will be needed to protect the base coat. Therefore it’s important that we get as much detail painted as possible in their respective base colors. I’ll start with the cobble stone and deeper nooks and crannies of the rubble piles. The color I will use for this is Humbrol MC24 (discontinued), but Humbrol Matt 29 will work just as well. I fined that with a good coat of primer, Humbrols will paint really well with just about any inexpensive brush. Don’t worry about slopping paint on some of the other details, just make sure to brush out the paint to keep a thin coat. I got this far, and decided I better use the airbrush around all that rubble to get down in behind everything good.

I remembered why I stalled on this one, My red color for the bricks dried up in the tin and I need to order more. So, I need to order some Humbrols to get this one rolling again. Her are a couple of pics getting details base coated.

I have had this Verlinden street fighters diorama base sitting on the work bench in my basement for 10 years or so. I figured its time to get it off the bench and get some paint slapped down on it. On the bench for TEN YEARS? Yep, I think it's time! Looks cool...and I wouldn't mind seeing how you tackle this myself. Without a good WIP for reference, some of mine might sit on my bench for the next 10 years or so.

Awesome stuff John, I'm hooked. And for God's sake, you gotta not ask such hard questions...I haven't the faintest clue what's going on this... How do those Dragon Shermans build up? I've only built the Tamiya one a long while back and I've been wanting to tackle their Firefly kit. -Conor

Conor, Thats as far as I have ever gotten with a dragon Sherman. I had to play around with trans cover fit, but other than that, its been ok so far.
