I've recently (over the past 2-3 years) been involved in several D&D related Kickstarter projects. Two were for actual miniatures - both of the Reaper "Bones" offerings - and this one was for terrain to use WITH those miniatures. Dwarven Forge has been making 28mm game tiles for a long time, only in resin. Super expensive! This KS was to produce new toolings that would allow them to cast the tiles in plastic, so muuuuch more affordable. These are used to adjudicate miniature combat rules in a much simpler fashion. Absolutely worth the money. dwarven-forge.myshopify.com/So I received my KS rewards last September...a day or two after my son was born, if I remember correctly. Been painting ever since! With almost 800 pieces in the boxes I got that day, it certainly took a LOT longer than I had originally anticipated to get these finished. What I started with: And a year later. I'm guessing somewhere between 70 and 80 hours worth of work to do the seven step base-detail-highlight paint process...but I wasn't timing. Heh. Obviously I'm not showing the entire set here, but a small mock-up that I could fit in my photo booth. Tried to fit as many different pieces as I could into the layout which is why it's a bit cramped!

Sadly such games are not my pair of shoes, but anyway, this ground/terrain looks cool! What exactly do you do with it (sorry for that maybe dumb question, but I am a "no gamer" (only RESIDENT EVIL, SILENT HILL and DEAD SPACE, ahem...)? Is it meant as a Base for the figures? I do not think so, maybe you use it whilst gaming?

Pretty cool (and massive!) setup there Dupes. Neat to see things like this get off the ground via Kickstarter.

Thanks Ron! I meant to take some pics of the tiles "in action" during our (now) weekly game session - spaced it totally. Will be sure to put some up.

Probably didn't think you were into the fantasy/D&D end of things - and I don't see you much any more (-insert whipping noise here-)! And I DO do figures...not particularly WELL, but I do them! Should see one in the "finished" thread here shortly.

The gaming end...takes a lot of time. And requires the right group. Hard to find either of those these days.

I don't think that they're "used" in anything - most of them are too big for game figs. The ones that ARE the right size are mostly steampunk-ish.
