OK gents, besides the fact that I have tons of figures to finish, I thought it is time to tackle something new in a way I have never done before. At the moment I am a bit thinking about how I can create new stuff without sculpting too much, how I can safe time so to say. When I first had the idea of this "special" Silver Surfer I promised myself not to do so much at the sculpting desk. And bingo! got the idea of using lots of parts from my Adam and Eve Collection. These are naked Preiser figures in multiple parts. Also, I found a head which has a cool likeness to the Surfer so I had only to remove the hair and sand his head round. The figure was cemented together in a few minutes and shows now a totally cool Superhero pose. What is so special about that, you might ask. Harhar, I decided to do him in a bit altered form, but do not know if this is possible in the Marvel universe. We will see and you decide if it is cool already. Pics follow tomorrow to give you time to think about it. HEHE! Frank

Sorry guys for the delay, I am suffering a bit from a cold (the weather here is extraordinaire: One day the sun is shining from breakfast to evening, a day later you are freezing like hell and further more, it is foggy. ARGH!) and had to stop working for some time. Being back on the bench tomorrow and taking some pics of him. T, maybe you will change your oppinion when you meet "the new Surfer"!

Here are the first pics of my 75mm Silver Surfer ZOMBIE. OK, what else could I do with superheros but to make them to Zombies?? The goal for me was doing it with as little sculpting as possible. So I searched my PREISER ADAM range of Body Parts and selected a few from which I thought would make a cool Superhero Pose. Cementing them together was quickly done and now, the "Zombiefication" could start. Besides the Designs I saw on the net, I wanted to have a less gruesome figure but a more "normal" looking guy without being normal, means, I left the head nearly untouched. I cut out some areas where the sculpting could enhance the rotten look (first I thought I could make some holes in the stomach to show hanging inestines, but left that idea for upcoming other Figures, maybe Spiderman). Here I have begun detailing the crumpeld metal/flesh of the Surfer with added and worked on Magic Sculpt. The Board was something special; I had the idea to alter it, destroyed and zombiefied it, too. The Rest will be done with the colours of rotten metal, rust, grime and maybe some structures done with powder. More soon. Sadly, I cannot make a Base here because I have no idea for. So I will create a small stand to show the Surfer whilst surfing in the air. Frank

Female Dragon Trainer? Thats almost exactly the same thing I have going on. Duel build??? Please! And finally I know why the Preiser Adam figures are always sold out in my LHS. Cool idea btw.

Hey Lucas, why not! But be warned: I am not doing a Lady Targaryen style Mother of Dragons, mine is more the kind of a Brienne von Thart, harhar! Tell me how and we can do the duell of cause, would be a cool and funny session!
T, thanks man! Yes, I think or better, I hope, to get even more out in the painting stage. First I thought I have to make the head more zombiefied, but after a rethink I left him mainly the way he is and concentrete on more small spots of zombiefication.

Thanks T, yep, you are right! I think my Zombie Spiderman, and when I say SPIDER, I mean it exactly, will be a bit more disgusting.

Another zombiefication Frank ?? I admire your sculpting there, the anatomy of the surfer is spot on!! Have you thought of making a surfboard to pop him onto? You could have a some of his bits dripping off onto the board itself. Just an idea mate! The spiderman zombie sounds intriguing, I have all these diorama scenes running through my mind!! I think your biggest challenge would be his body webbing, but with your skill set this won't be a problem Shay

Thanks Shay! Yeah, I have done a Board, zombiefied to so to say. I the pics he´s stick to it. The Surfer desintegrating? Sounds like an interesting aspect (you always have those cool ideas!). I have to check if this is possible to do and how it will look! The Spiderman, well, I have an idea of doing him in a way which is a bit "outstanding" and have to think about the bodynet design a while. I do not know till yet how it may fit in my idea. But we will see! But with the mentioning of the net you gave me an idea which directs in another direction, but might look creepy! Frank

Looks like an accident in Zombieland! I have thought up and down for buying me some of the 28mm Zombie stuff, but couldn´t find something which really burned me. I have an idea sketched out with a lot of Preiser figures (hey, I mean the train figures in 1:72 or 1:87) to make a village mass scene with three or four GIs and a mass apoclalypse. Or maybe something like in THE WALKING DEAD, than tank scene in the first episode. In the Comic this is really well scripted. But it is the helluva work! Remeber, you have to alter EVERY little figure, argh! Btw, have never heard of COLD WAR MINIATURES! Frank

If you're considering 28mm can I point you to the Wargames Factory Dark Futures figures, but with one caveat: the pack marked "Zombies!" (Zombie Horde (Male)) was produced long before the others and some people think they're undersize for "True" 28mm (let alone "Heroic" 28mm), the Zombie Vixens and the two Survivors sets came out more recently - IIRC I got mine about 18 months ago - and are very nice. www.wargamesfactory.com/webstore/dark-futuresi understand there are other plastic modern/SciFi 28mm Zombies out there but I don't have them, so you'll have to check for on-line reviews. Yep, I have seen the woman´s box already, they look really good. It is fun to see how Zombies pop up since a few months and some of them are done very creepy. I have some of them done in 1:35 but to my eyes they lack some gore which I have to add. OK, I understand the methods of the market (especially here in Germany) but Zombies without gore?! Anyway, I can do them by myself as I have done several times in the past. So no real problem at all...

On the dio are some of the Wargames Factory dudes, btw. The Wargames Factory figures have one real disadvantage: There are four sprues in each pack. But dont expect different figures. Four basic figures on each sprue, but four sprues with the same ones. NARF! Same with the samurai figures etc. Frank, youre from Germany? Please PM me for further information (dont want to go too much OT here. ).
