Thanks for the kind comments guys.
Here's today's progress shots.
I'm pretty happy with the way things are going. Going to have to slow down now though. Have a grandson getting married this coming Saturday and She Who Must Be Obeyed has many, many errands for me to run the rest of the week. I'll be getting back to modeling next Monday.

Got back from the wedding trip yesterday afternoon. The plane made the usual 1-1/2 hour trip in just over an hour. Consequently I had a little extra time to do some modeling. Between then and this afternoon I pretty well completed the Panzer.
Here is the current version of the tank.
There are still a couple of things to do, but for all intents and purposes it is done.
The base is also complete. I used mosaic tile for the street.
The tile was attached to the base board one by one and then painted and weathered. I thought it turned out pretty well.
Here is the finished product.
I'm reasonably pleased with how the project turned out considering how long it had been since I built a military themed model. Hope you guys like itt.

OK John we'll give you this one but from here on out we will be on you like white on rice. Not bad for 61 years of being out of pocket, most of what I see is cosmetic details that you can improve on. Slow down and give us time to catch up with suggestions unless you just love to make corrections after something has been painted. Since you've got all the time in the world start looking and reading all the build blogs you can find, you'll pick up bunches of knowledge for free. Don't waste your time asking Deafpanzer any questions,he can't hear you anyway and besides once he starts that signing he will talk your ear off. See ya later Tony lee

Turned out really nice. And the cobblestone street turned out very well. I can't wait to finish up what I am working on so I can get one of these going.

:)nice result!! cobblestones must,ve took ages!!! well done, what's next? Actually the base didn't take all that long. Here are the tile I use.
I found these at Michael's quite a while back. Don't know if they carry them anymore or not. The most tedious thing about this is scoring and breaking the tile. I used an old razor saw. If you do I suggest one that is about done for because after scoring the tile it will be washed up. I'm thinking that a hacksaw blade may be another way to go. Good luck with yours.
As to what is next-----it will be sometime after Christmas. I'm thinking of a Russian GAZ copy of a Model AA mounted with Katusha rockets. Haven't made up my mind about the base yet.
Also a definite project will be a 1940 Ford Coupe. 2015 is the 75th anniversary of the 40 Ford; it's also the year I was born and the 40 Coupe happens to be the first car I ever had. It just demands to be built. I'll be getting it started right after the first of January.

Must feel good to get one under your belt getting back into building! Solid work and the base is great!!
Tony is wise in not only his age but his building as well! Each new model, pick a couple things you want to work on and focus on those and try and improve them. All we have is time and all we want is a little fun at the bench.
Congratulations on your son's wedding!!

Nice finish to this one John, you're hooked now! They don't call it the 'dark side' for nothing...and we have cookies.
