Well, after perusing this site and checking out all the great armor here I really took the plunge with this kit. Not that I haven't built models, I have been building models for a long time and build everything BUT armor. A couple of years ago I did build the AFV Club M3 Stuart tank, but that was just to get my feet wet. This is the Dragon 3 in 1 kit which I decided to finish in Forest Camo scheme of tank #132 of 1./s.SS-Pz.Abt. 102 in Normandy. I added the Atak Zimmerit and it is base coated with K4 acrylics and detail painted with Vallejo. The next step is to seal with an acrylic satin in preparation for decals and weathering. Before paint: After paint: Sorry for the blurry pic, the camera batteries were dying so I had to rush

Thanks guys, your encouragement is inspiring. I am really enjoying this build. A lot of firsts for me so it is really interesting. Todd, the K4 paints really spray well. I initially shot the yellow basecoat by cutting it with alcohol a bit and it shot like Tamiya but dried too quickly so I mixed up my own batch of thinner which also included distilled water, Future (as a Flow Enhancer), and a few drops of Acrylic retarder, and it sprayed even better. I shot it all freehand then added a little "Interior Buff" color to lighten the base color and shot highlights on the upper surfaces raised detail. K4 offers these colors in German Color sets (2) as well as other countries. I picked these up at the IPMS Nationals for about $10.00 a set. I do have their product list. If anyone is interested I can e-mail it to them. Please do send the link to Richard. I was considering doing it anyway.

Glad to hear you had the good experience with the K4 Paints. Richard and I go way back...couple years now. He, and his son, are good people! He had spent a while trying to perfect things and subsequently get the ball rolling! Just prior to the IPMS Nats (which I am surprised we didn't see each other there...I was not the Scratchmod figure manning the Vallejo table...LOL) He got approval and some help to finally jump into the pond and start selling!
I am curious about you thinning them a bit as I have a pretty good selection myself and have not had the need...but it does come down to application and how we individually like to paint for sure! I will most certainly send him a note and the link!
PM Inbound!

Richard is a great guy and as T mentioned we go back a few years and finally got to meet and BS with him at that show. His color sets do look very good. His thinner works great for thinning his paints btw. Now the Tiger I. Great looking camo. I have used the same zimmerit for the Tiger I am working on atm, really nice product and fit is perfect.

Thanks guys. Ron, the zimmerit is an excellent product and I was impressed with its easy application. All it needs is a little filler here and there to make it seamless.
Weathering is nearly done. Update soon.

Thanks guys! Coming from armour builders like yourselves I am humbled.
Rob, I have built one other tank, an AFV Club M3 Stuart. Even put it in my first dio (Saipan scene), but this is the first German build with Camo. I will have to post the other build at some point.
