Hello, my name is Ari and I found this site while looking for reviews of a Panzerfunkwagen model from AFV Club. I found one by a user named mshackleton and it was the best written, most thorough review I've ever seen of a model, and it got me reading through all the forums here religiously looking for tips, hints, or just watching people make scratch-built Prometheus models or tanks at a quality I dream someday of attaining.
I made a lot of model kits as a child, unpainted, gluey fingerprints on every windshield, the usual disasters. This winter break I needed a distraction and thought I'd try doing some kits the way you all do them here, with exceptional professionalism and patience and attention to detail. Well, I'm still working on all of those and I fear my talents are well below average for this site. But I'm hoping by participating I'll improve and start to produce some work beyond my current amateur status. I'd most like to learn to scratch build models, as I'm a sci-fi author and would love to start building the things I've written about. I don't know if outside links are allowed yet so I'll wait for permission to link to my art pages and novels, I'd not want to be too presumptuous by doing so right off the bat.
But thank you all for the many posts you've made here that have taught me what I know so far, and thanks in advance for all to come. It's an honor to speak to such phenomenal model-makers and I look forward to working my way into your ranks.
I'll head over to the Gallery now and show you what I've done so far.

Hello Delta!
The best way to improve is to simply start building. Just like writing, model building is something which is more about imagination and less about actual skill. If you can think it, you'll find a way to build it. The ability to produce nice things will grow naturally from a passion about whatever it is which motivates your desire.
A well respected SciFi modeler once said, "Luminous builders are we, not this crude styrene."

Hi Ari, Now I that have seen your artwork, I am even more intrigued to see what you have on the work bench at the moment! Absolutely fantastic array of surrealism....I can't help but see a hint of Dali through some of your art. In the meantime...this may or may not be up your alley , but I'm sure you will appreciate one of my favourite modelers who tends to work on a different tangent JBA dioramaEnjoy your time here on MSC and thanks for sharing us with that little treat!! Cheers, Shay

Thank you Deafpanzer!!!
And thank you Kiwibelg, especially for the recommendation, the material is JBA Diorama is very impressive, especially the way he does water. Very cool stuff! Dali and Giger are definitely huge influences on me. Escher as well.
At the moment the only thing on my workbench is Mork, my cat. He'll reside there until the next project, which will either be the Ghost in the Shell models or maybe something else if I stop by the hobby shop today to get something to tide myself over until the Ghost stuff arrives in the mail. I never seem to know what I'm hunting for next until I find it.
