Seeing this makes me wish to build my own giant robot! You have done a real great thingie here, great weathering and a realistic approach to it. The thing looks real, not toy like and that is what hooked me on this build. And the form of it is believable, it is no robot with giant sword and shield (which I find always a bit "unrealistic"). But I guess you won´t do a superdetail extravaganza like on your FLEDERMAUS?!

Frank We are in agreement in that some of the Gundams remind me of mechanical samurai, but I have seen some very well done. I like Macross machines because they look like combat vehicles instead of super heros. These kits are not as easy to build as one might supose. There are lots big seams, mis-matched parts, and sometimes poor fit. So overcoming those problems is enough for me. Thank you for stopping by. Terry

Sounds like the Macross are my piece of cake! Battle mechs sounds cool! And gaps to fill and doing some extra prep work is nothing that can stop me. What I need to know is (remember, I am a completely stranger in this world) are there any blueprints or stuff like that which show some interior stuff of them? I know the Macross factory kits and there some open robots are shown, but I think there must be some more information...

Frank Some of the Macross designs were used in a game system called Battletech and they produced some blue prints.

That is some really good work ther, you've done a great job making that old kit shine. These Destroids make a great canvas for AFV style weathering.
BTW a company called wave recently began producing new tool versions of the Tomahawk, Defender and Phalanx. No word yet on the Spartan yet but it is available in resin (I have one the bench) along with resin versions of the others, which you can get on occasion from Starship Modeler.
Do you have any others inyour stash?
Cheers,
Brett

I have seen the Wave models, but they have been a little out of my price range. Where do you get yours from? I've been looking on ebay.

WARHAMMER! Excellent!
Of course, I always lean toward the Battletech versions. Have plans that would let me scratch this in 1/60 to go along with my other mechs...hopefully someone else will do it first so I don't have to!

Hey that was cool looking! I'm always interested in mechs. Where can I find them? I have a Madcat that I need to redo. I found it a garage sale.

Hmmmm...if it's vinyl, that might be the Horizon Madcat. Supposedly it's 1/35, making it something like 14 inches tall? That sound right?

Yep, this is the stuff I meant. He did some Luther variations and the Walkers are really cool in general. I mean there are some plastic injection kits, too, inclueding figures in 1:35.
