Well chaps, here I am for the first time (in this subforum that is) ;D ;D I thought the Elefant might look better on a little piece of groundwork. Nothing too fancy: just a dry muddy piece of ground with some grasstufts, a figure to show some sense of scale and a jerrycan and a 200 litre barrel. It depicts the plains in Galicia during summer '44 (well, at least I hope it looks a bit like it ;D) I started by adding a mix of polyfilla, sand and Tamiya Flat Black onto the base (courtesy of the Sockelshop). I gently pressed the Elefant into the drying groundwork to get some trackmarks. After that I applied a mixture of sand, water and PVA glue to get some more texture. When that was dry I added the grass and sprayed Tamiya Flat Earth onto the groundwork. Several washes followed (MIG Dark Wash, Brown wash, thinned burned umber oil paint) and the grass got some gentle brushstrokes of different shades of Vallejo green colors. The rocks (cat litter) got a grey treatment. Currently the Elefant is fixed with 2 part epoxy and the figure is pretty much complete (quite happy with that so far ^^) Lots to be done though. The Elefant 'floats' a bit onto the surface so I have to add a bit more soil. After that the figure, groundwork and Elefant get a very thin overspray of thinned Tamiya Buff to tie things together...hope I don't ruin it... Suggestions and tips are most welcome since this is all a bit new to me ^^ Cheers

Ground is looking good Wouter both in colour and texture , my suggestion though would be that next time you should add a thicker layer so that the tracks can sink in more to give that heavy feeling (it's harder to add on after and still get the right look, I know I have been there ) I know it's not easy to press the model in because there's always the risk of damaging it, so the next time just press the model in enough to add the marks and then take a spare set of tracks and press them in to make the heavy marks ;D. Hope this make sense. Like the setup and the figure looks great mate.

CSS: thanks fella, glad you like it mate ;D Steve: thank you very much Sir Rob: thanks mate, glad you like it so far ^^ Did a bit more on the groundwork today: I filled some gaps in the groundwork to make the Ele less 'floaty'...A mixture of two different Tamiya Texture paints, Flat Earth and sand was applied. When dry I glued the Jerrycan and Barrel in place. Some washes of MIG Brown and Dark Wash were applied. Next step I think will be adding some pigments. No shots of that yet. With the Ele fixed to the base it's becoming too big for my background, so I have to get a bigger one first ;D ;D Cheers

thanks a lot Guy, glad you like it. I found it not as hard as I expected. If you take your time to figure out how to do the painting and then take your time to do some actual painting one can get a fairly good result. Still miles from the level of paintwork as Carl Startin, Paul Phillips and other great figure painters though, but I'm allready happy if I can manage a decent result Will try to get tomoz some shots...now it's first working time ^^ Cheers
