Hello all, I think every modeller had the same problem once - the model can be a very good build, but it will get less attention/looks a bit lonely if its not well presented. Of course it depends on the individual project. One good thing to present a model is a name badge. Theres tons of possibilities like -photoshopped paper labels -photoetched labels -hand painted creations etc. Ho do you solve it? Whats your favourite? And - maybe not uninteresting for beginners - whats the easiest way?
Once again, I stumbled about this theme right here: modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/10260/little-beast?page=1&scrollTo=281610From my - very personal - point of view my favourite is photoshopped labels or even hand painted ones. Hand painted because Im doing mostly figure stuff and it gives me some kind of freedom of creativeness (photoshop has its possibilities too, of course). Like Roland said, it just makes little sense to order just one label from a shop. Furthermore, I really try to avoid key makers, because that stuff can get really expensive and has less possibilities in most cases (like only a few type fonts). Heres three examples. A photoshopped example: a hand painted one: and one from a key maker. Not bad, but it has its limits: Whats your opinion(s)? Thanks in advance! Lucas.

Personally I think that anything you can do to customize/personalize a badge or nameplate for a build just adds that much more of an individual touch to it. Nothing wrong with having one done commercially either if all you need is a simple plate for a dio or similar, in that respect I think the creativity comes out in the naming that conveys a sense of what the scene is all about.

As a name plate, I much prefer the ones done by a key or trophy maker. But some things are best when hand painted by the builder.
I figure standing holding a banner with the name of the piece painted into the banner might be an example.
The best choice for these kinds of things are often dictated by the model itself.
