Nice work. I am really pleased to see one of these little Arii kits here. I have looked at them often and one day will buy a few. They make models of the ugliest little vehicles. I really believe that the least disireable vehicles in real life make the most interesting modelling subjects.

I really believe that the least disireable vehicles in real life make the most interesting modelling subjects. I have four of them including this one, and all of them are great subjects. I started from the one I liked less, to practice on it some of the techniques I will use on the other ones, and I fell in love with it. It's such a nice little truck

NICE!!! Had a look at their range earlier - some really weird and wonderful stuff. If I didn't have more than a decade's worth of stash I'd be seriously tempted to branch out. Looking forward to what you do with the Daihatsu Midget.

Looking forward to what you do with the Daihatsu Midget. Yep, all of their stuff is gorgeous. It's a collection of classic Japanese cars from 50s, 60s and 70s. All of them are really small and the part count is so ridiculously low that you can do one in two days if you don't want to add weathering. They're also quite cheap on HLJ. The midget is planned for a diorama with the gundam beast above it, but it's not due before I finish this, the Kv2, the btr and probably the T62 dio too.

I used to visit Japan regularly with my work. I have seen a few of these old mini cars and trucks. A friend of mine there has a very early Mazda though it is a real rust bucket. Most of these early Japanese cars were only sold in the Japanese domestic market, not exported. With the high humidity they have in their summer rust is a big problem so very few of these 50's and 60's vehicles are still around. Some of these little Arii models would make great rusty car/ truck dioramas. I look forward to seeing what you do with these little kits.

It's a true pity as they have such a great style. One of them will surely become a rustbucket, maybe with a tree inside (Todd do you hear me?)

I vote for the Mazda Carol having the tree grow out of it - it's my sister-in-law's name (no, not Mazda), and she's no spring chicken

"Our eight legged friend has one of these kits on the bench too." Really? So he's keeping secrets from me now - I shall have to have words with him...

Ok, I started weathering the small thing. The chipping was done exclusively with the windex technique, by slowly removing the top layers to achieve a worn and battered look. Then I lightly desaturated the roof by spraying some pure white. And finally I installed the rusty steel protection. This is the result: Next I will add some layers to the rusted and chipped parts. As always ACW

Coming along nicely Lui! That steel blanked off plate catches my eye every time I look at this baby.

As focal points go, toilets are vastly underrated - where would we be without them? (please, nobody mention creeks and lack of paddles - too obvious ) The little Honda is coming along nicely!

Thanks Dierk. I only hope people will see the rest once the toilet will be in place
