This was just added to my work bench. Waiting on the arrival of Tom's PE set for the machine guns and work will commence. I plan on super detailing this project and making the flaps movable. I will keep everyone updated.

1/28!? What a weird scale...I'll be watching though..the Dr.1 is tasty. Thought of the Merit 1/24 kit, but would prefer some scale consistency...so I'll hold out. Inspiration:

Nice photo Jim.
She is a classy plane for her time. The Revell kit at 1/28, is an odd scale but nice and big to work with. I'm waiting on the machine gun PE set to come in, and then I will get started. Detailing will be interesting and I have been checking other sites on line. Nice build of the same kit on the Kitmaker site. The guy is doing some real clever work and and it will turn out sharp.
Once I get the work going, I will posted some more photos.

Ooooh Im looking forward to this. Had this kit too - 15 or something years ago. A quite simple one, but a classic - never managed to finish it, like so many. A replica of the original is just a few km away from where I live, standing next to a "Komet".

Quick update to the project. I have the PE sets now for the cockpit and for the MG's. As you can see, I'm starting off with the Oberursel UR II engine. I started removing the molded on piston rods and will replace them with steel wire. I dry fitted the engine and I decided I will put some time into it to getting it looking good. I don't want to purchase a resin one. I will work this one over. This will be an interesting project.

I'm a slow builder and try to really improve on the simple skills I have. Sorry for the delay. I have improved on the exhaust pipes on the top of the pistons and also added wire piston rods. I will be adding paint and then wiring the spark plugs soon. Thanks, Sam

Not the best photos but as promised, some updates. Some great lessons learned and still learning. As all already know, no such thing as a bad kit. Just some need a bit of TLC. Most Revell kits are like that but I use them as a product to enhance my scratch building skills. The engine has been completely stripped and reworked. I will get better shots of the cockpit so you can see the added detail. Working on the MG's now. They are completely re-built with added PE. Will post better completted photos in about a week.

Thanks, guys and I do appreciate it. It's a good model for a confidence builder as far as scratch building. I will get some more photos out next week. Had lots of issues with the build and decals. I think I have about another weeks worth of work on it and it will sit in a case in my home office. Planning on the next project and will have photos of the box soon.

Good day everyone, A couple of more photos going to be adding the MG's the next couple of days and a bit more wire and off to the display case in the home office. Once done, cleaning and organizing the work bench and planning on a complete scratch re-build of the Revell 1/32 Corsair or a Tamaya 1/48 Lancaster dam buster bomber.
