I am wondering if some of you more experienced aircraft guys could tell me what the best detailed Spitfire kits are? I see there is a huge selection out there and could use a little help deciding what kits are best for the money. I mean do not need new lines scribed and come with good detail for this scale etc.. PE is always a plus. Thanks

Do you care what mark it is? Will certainly make a difference if you do.

Well I was hoping to make a Canadian Spitfire. Which I guess would be a British Spitfire. So far from what I can gather the Canadians flew in West Africa, Germany, D-day, but I don't know the difference between the different marks. I see they flew MK.1s,IX, IIB,.. probably most of the variants I would imagine. I was thinking if a model company made one good Spitfire the others would also be good. Maybe this is not so? I probably would prefer the earlier variants if that is a help to you helping me?

Do you have a set of decals you're working off of? Or are you hoping to find a kit that has Canadian markings in it as well?

It would be great to find a kit with Canadian decals. But I would search for after market decals if need be. Looking at some photos, it seems often the Canadian aircraft had very similar insignia to the British. Oh my, this could be complicated. I've only just begun!

Generally the Canadian Spits are marked and painted similarly to the original British aircraft. I've seen some with personal markings and maple leafs added.
Let me see if I can come up with anything in my decal stash.
Oh, so initial research shows you're probably looking at a Vb or a IX.

Thank you Dupes, I appreciate any help/recommendations you may have. I suppose I could easily build a British plane seeing how they are almost the same.
