Before I finish up the legs I decided to shape up the toad's... Next thing to do is trying to refine these parts. Best regards ! AG.

I did a bit more and I made (not the best) photos of the way I try to shape things. The left side was filled, the right side is ready to be treated. I apply a small chunk of MS to the area I want to sculp. These are the simple tools I have in reach, an old soft brush, a coffee stirrer thing I sanded, and a rubber how is it called in English ? I first flatten out the MS, roughly with the home made spatula. I then gently brush the surface until it's smooth. How it looks now. More soon, if I mess up please let me know. Best regards ! AG.

So far, guy, you are becoming a danger for me. Really! You seems to be a natural born artist, this figure becomes better and better with every hour you work on it. Great details, top anatomy and all in all very believable. And seeing this I get the mood to sit down, grab my Equipment and start again. And all I can promise is, that next year something really extraordinaire will take shape on my bench. I have some things in the making. And you, my friend, are a great inspiration! MORE PLEASE!!

Frank Your words mean more than just a lot to me Frank, the anatomy is very difficult to do, so I need to study as many anatomic drawings and pictures as possible for this first project. I have a map on anatomy for this purpose. 3D drawings are a great help too. And even then I sweat buckets full... For the back muscles I'll need more than two sessions. It's good to hear you will fire up the sculpting action next year ! Yesterday evening I've watched your thread on the Predator, a stunning figure in the making ! This is the back after one session pfff. Best regards ! AG.

The sweat and patience are paying off AG, really turning out an impressive result here. Will your warrior be clothed aside from the boots? Or will he be relying on his 'all natural' protection?

Hi Bill, he will be clothed but sculpting the muscles is a good exercise. Once they look ok it will be easier for me to shape the clothing.

The difficult thing about anatomy is to keep the figure "in shape of the proportions" (my first figures were partly overdone and most too bulky because I had to sculpt the clothing or armor over the flesh parts and did not think about the dimensions of the scale. But these things will come after doing some stuff. Do not forget what you sculpt! I remember you writing about all those pickles and pests over the toads skin so it could be a good idea to incorporate some small details, which could be done pressing in with stemps or other tools while the MS is still wet) as I have done with my Nurgle demon chief here in the sculpting fourm. modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/thread/9011/franks-projects-nurgle-demon-sculptYou save lots of time! Yap, the Predator isn´t finished till yet, maybe I shall find the time now over Christmas to do some work on the elder stuff. Thanks for the compliment, Sir! Frank

I think you have really hit the nail on the head so far Guy. Looking through the stash this evening with my brother inlaw I came across this 70mm Star Wars figure.. robertochaudonblog.blogspot.be/2011/10/gamorrean-guard.html?m=1 I see alot of similarities with your composition so far, that can only be a good thing! On a side note I can't wait to try my new airbrush out on the Gamorrean guard..

Good tip Frank, I'll give that a try soon ! Today I'll cover the belly and the chest. I also have to correct things on the back, I'm not entirely satisfied with the result so far.
Shay, how can it be possible ? While I am sculpting this figure, I always have this Star Wars caracter in the back of my mind ! I didn't know of the existance of a scale figure on it and yet they look very similar, the sexy chubby legs in particular ! Thanks for sharing my friend !

Very impressive work Guy! Can't believe it's your first attempt at sculpting... BTW 'rubber' could be a condom, but in your case I think it's an eraser.

Very impressive work Guy! Can't believe it's your first attempt at sculpting... BTW 'rubber' could be a condom, but in your case I think it's an eraser. I always sculpt wearing a condom, safety first ! That rubber thing is not for erasing, I generally use it for adding graphite when finishing vehicles. It seems to come in handy to create folds and shape muscles. I've tested how I can replicate the toad skin with Frank's method and it works well, one problem however, I don't have such a fine tube at this moment, I'll see if I can find something suitable for that purpose. The back pleases me now but it's not finished yet, it cries for extra details. More soon ! AG.

What you use is a so-called "Clay shaper".

PS, the KNIGHTMODEL Star Wars figures are mostly sold out.

Hi guys, between the Christmas dinners and drinks I found bits of benchtime and man how enjoyed them ! Is is typical for us modelers ? Are we like solitary plants ? I love my family and friends but I get a pointy head of gossiping, small talk and related sh*t during these dinners...Long live my hobby and MSCF ! I experimented on the skin after I got tips and advice from our own Kaytermarram, thanks Frank ! More soon ! AG (Tomorrow a quite day...DE LI CIOUS !!!)

You can use everything for that kind of detailing: I have stones with cool surfaces, crumled aluminium foil, sefmade pressing tools, even bark from trees, structured pastic, everything comes in handy for different types of surface.

Thanks for your visits friends ! Frank, the aluminium foil tip works to create leather textures ! Thanks man ! The leather belt is ready to be decorated now, that will be fun ! The folds were done with different rounded toothpicks, a soft brush and patience. Next are some weapons to be made too. Best regards ! AG.

OK, you like my comments, harhar, here are the new ones, Dude: First, the loincloth IS PERFECT! Could NOT be done better, folds are great and the positioning of the piece is absolute realistic. So is the belt, I love it, too. I would add some metal ornaments on it. For weapons, hm, some kind of swords and knifes, maybe a brest belt with three or four knifes for throwing action, like assassins would use? A long sword or katana would look great, or a big axe on the back over a shield, maye two or three short lancets? Brest- and shoulder armor is cool so far BUT PLEASE REMOVE THOSE NIPPLES!! Does make no sense and reminds me on the George Clooney Batman, he had such details on the armor, too, and I personally would not add them (cheers, bro, this is YOUR figure of cause! But please rethink this detail!!). So far so obercool! Ah, speaking of weapons, MAYBE some kind of musket or a "Steinschlosspistole" could look good, too. And maybe a feather hat on his toad skull when you have finished it. But as always, surprise me!
Frank
