This is wobbling between my ears for too long now. Should be a fun side project (one of the many, I know...). Oh and yes, that Revell Mk XXII Spitfire really IS crappy - better like that here instead of building it complete - this would take ages (or you buy a Tamiya or similar instead )... Works done so far:>filled the panel lines with Mr Surfacer and sanded them (those panel lines are far away from being good!) >added rudder steering by cutting the triangles and adding profiles build the pilot and added flettened lead wire instead of the OOB straps (looks more real).

Small progress here. I managed to complete the Spitfire build and filling all of her panel lines. A special pain in the a... was the landing gear - it broke twice. Arranging it was another story, although it looks so simple. Anyways - its on! Yesterday we had a local modelers club meeting and I felt slightly demotivated when I looked at the othe projects going on there - B-17 in natural metal finish, Hasegawa/Revell Sea King in 1/48 and even a 1/32 Revell Uhu. WOW!!! Felt good to chat with the members again after a long break. What Im not too sure about atm are the colors for the Spitfire. Ive looked in the net, and at my local hobby shop (whos selling Vallejo) in the color charts... I think theyre close enough, are they?

I am with you about local club meetings... went to two meetings for last two days and it really helps me feel motivated to keep it going.
I don't know much about Spitfire and I hope one of wingy nuts can help you. Todd works for Vallejo he may be able to help too.

I think the colors are pretty close - and furthermore theres the "scale effect". Had a chat with another modeller from here and he just completed a Tamiya Spitfire by chance: Hes a real nice guy (and a talented one as well!) and he offered me his remains of the MrHobby RAF color set. Aint that nice?!

Pilot got some more paint. I added the rank insignias on his jacket and placed a box of fruit. The pilot and his ride wil get another base as shown above, btw. Wasnt too happy with this one.
