Hey Tex I think the tracks look much better when they are just touching the top of the third road wheel. Uncle Tony That was the case with Panthers because they had a little guide wheel behind the sprocket that Tigers didn't. For Tigers it's the 2nd wheel where the tracks usually touch which is what I've got here. The idler is adjustable and when it comes time to fully install the track it will be a little tighter, like this shot (which took several attempts to get due to the limited tape contact/tension of the track!) :

Thanks Andrew, Leon, and AG! Plugging away. Great football games for sure! Shoes look real good on her... bet you are glad the wheels & tracks part is OVER! Only half over...one more track to go! Amazing how all 4 road teams won. The Chiefs game was the only snoozer.

Amazing how all 4 road teams won. The Chiefs game was the only snoozer. I have to say those tracks do look very nice once adjusted!! On the other point, who are the likely looking Superbowl Teams this year? I don't follow the regular season like I used to in my singleton days, as there is only so much time in the day , but I do still make a point of watching the Super Bowl live if I can - which meant I got to bed well after 3am last year.... - yep most of my friends and family think I'm mad!!!

What was I thinking. Of course you do.

Andrew, this year is an interesting one. On the AFC side the teams remaining are the Chiefs, Broncos, Patriots, and Steelers. On the NFC it's the Packers, Seahawks, Panthers, and Cardinals. Hard to say who will make it all the way but my bet is Chiefs-Panthers or Chiefs-Cardinals. Dierk, no problem, German stuff is always complicated! Marc, like riding a bicycle!

"Dierk, no problem, German stuff is always complicated!" Tell me about it - just look at the language DierkAs you know I'm a UK employee of a large German multi-national and have totally agree about German complexity!! You should see the policy documentation and reporting processes we have to deal with!!! That being said, as English is the company's unofficial 'lingua franca' (admittedly because they're better at English than we are at German) we do get our own back and have plenty to laugh at when our German Colleagues don't quite get it right or properly understand those wonderful little nuances of the English language!! Bill - thanks for the sports update!! As long as it's a good balanced game I don't mind who wins - watching one side totally dominate can get a bit tedious at 2am in the morning.. Andrew

Building the tracks is a pretty straightforward exercise but takes some time. The MK set includes a jig that holds 5 links at a time and the pins are provided on handles that are designed to work with the jig to create the sections. Individual pins are provided to connect them together into the long run but occasionally you need to use some of the pins on the 4-pin groups as there aren't quite enough single pins to do the job. The 2 guide horns are separate parts that are installed per link to complete the job. The first track run consisted of 94 links or 470 total parts including the pins and took roughly 6 hours to get together. Got another 20 links together on the 2nd run today, plugging away at it slowly but surely!

Seriously though they do like very nice!!

So I guess this doesn't meet the criteria for a quick build kit then??? Seriously though they do like very nice!! To be fair, the kit tracks are one piece Dragon Styrene and it's only my personal preference that led me to replace them with workable tracks. Self inflicted added work for sure.

Another round of playoff games this weekend meant more time working on the tracks! 2nd verse, same as the first! Both tracks are now done with 94 links per side and 940 parts in total. That leaves 10 extras in the set that are enough to populate the turret racks but not the front hull run. That will have to involve the kit-supplied individual links but won't be a big deal in the end.
