Good evening... Is this really post. no. 2500?! Cant believe it. Of course, Im posting quite often, but thats quite a milestone. At this occasion I want to say thank you to MSC for sharing your thoughts, ideas and projects. Im feeling really at home here, and there had been never any issue here - we could talk about everything with respect to each other. Thats not the case everywhere - speaks absolutely for MSC and its admins and moderators! The modellers that inspired me and from which I learned from are just too many to mention here. Youre a bunch of very talented modellers and painters - keep on producing that awesome stuff.
The project:...comes from EVD figures. I like them very much because theyre "oldschool", i. e. made from metal and these two persons here have lots of fun - the scene is very lively and lovely at the same time. After a bit of headache (no instructions inside!) I figured out where the two small oval pieces are for. Theyre the lower parts of his gloves. A little bit of Green Stuff here and there and there you go. Unfortunately, I made a big mistake - before I could glue his head on, it disappeared somewhere under the bench. True classic! Plan B: rescueing the figre by using a spare head and modelling a moustache. Close call.

Isn't a little early in the year to be losing your head Lucas? Should be a fun one.

Bro, beside the fact that you have tons of work (in your job and at the bench and heck, what says the Mrs to this???) let me say something I have noted the last weeks: When I compare the stuff you do now with some elder work, I must say that your style and ability to paint has increased A LOT! Your paintjobs WERE good, but now, they go like a rocket. This couple here is -till now- the best I have seen from you since we have stated discussion and thats cool! Look like it pays off painting so much as you do. Heck, maybe I should sculpt more. Maybe I will be as good as Bill Horan or Doug Cohen in 2348, harhar!
Keep it going, bro!
Frank

Coming together nicely mate! Have you thought about adding some weights or a dumbell to the scene (on the carpet for instance)? Jealous of your working speed btw!! Shay

MANY thanks for that! I shot the picture in the noon hours, just before my late shift today - I guess the blue especially looks a bit more dramatic than it really is. The contrasts are not THAT kind of drastic there. Basically, I kept it pretty simple, i. e. I used a wet pallet and looked a lot on the box picture. Frank, what does the Mrs. say? Well, thats easy - after having a bit trouble before in a relationship (those prejudices, you know...) shes the first one who really does NOT say "Youre a nerd, and its a bad thing!". Yes, I do like models/painting a lot, and Im a bit proud of it. Not in an egoistic way, but Im having very much fun and its a part of my life. She knew it before, and she really appreciates it (and is not just pretending to do so). And of course that needs a bit time here and there, and thats totally okay. She even builds models too from time to time - not that much as I do but for her 1st project she had even chosen the - imho - hardest category for a beginner EVER: a "Cutty Sark" from Revell. Jeez! @painting speed: I really have the deepest respect to modellers who have one huge project going on and they make it from A-Z without doing something else. For me, I need some distraction from time to time, because I would go crazy if I have a certain project going on and theres a problem and I just cant continue. And yes, figure painting is something different than... lets say doing a tank or a plane. Those smaller projects will keep the mojo alive in between of a larger project (the vignette here is for example a perfect joy between the Ha-Go build, totally NOT technical and just for fun). @dumbell: Hmmm, I just googled around, but didnt find something, sorry. Resumee: Im doing different projects at the same time for a good cause: its fun and I try to learn as much as I can, for example from tank buliders (washings, rust effects), plane builders (how to use decals, PE parts etc.) and so forth. The limits of painting techniques are fluent. Thank you for your kind support here, it really means a lot. And - of course - to my girl too for letting me be who I am, you dont find that very often these days!
