So, another year, another farcebook group build..... This time its entitled "Epic Build" Build, with a time span of 6 months. I've dragged this out the stash as its the epicly largestest box in my "stash under the bench", preventing my office chair going under the bench properly. Made a small start this evening and have got the engine block and chassis together, further research now required before anymore progress. ATB Sean

Even in 1/72 this one's going to be pretty good size. Looking forward to seeing you work the usual braille magic.

Even in 1/72 this one's going to be pretty good size. Looking forward to seeing you work the usual braille magic. I shall try my hardest! And you are right about the size, the Famo is over 4" long and the barrel alone on the kanone is 4.5" not including the breach block!! Not to worry though, it wont be alone for long, I have another Famo and a tank transport trailer, and in light of my Xmas pressy from the out-laws I'll be ordering an Albion CX22 with 7.2" howitzer on Long-Tom carriage from Milicast in the near future, really wanted a Scammell Pioneer tractor but they no longer do it with the Long-Tom sadly. Not to mention the 2 Airfix Scammell tank transporters also sat in the stash..... I've got a thing that makes me feel all funny in my tummy when I see massive military tractor units and/or large cannon/trailers (!?) just never gotten around to building any yet for some reason.

Through the bits built so far under a camera as I was taking pictures of other things at the time..... So far the Famo looks like this..... The drive sprockets and some of the wheels are also done as well..... Meanwhile, the research continues.... ATB Sean

how do you get that penny to stand up?... It takes hours of dedication, patience, swearing, frustration, some more swearing, a very steady hand and a small blob of Blue Tack in a wedge stuck to the back

So, the motor block and gearbox came with the kit, but that's about it, so I'm scratch building all the rest, as you can see the manifolds are half done, so are the cylinder heads and water pump, next to do are the dual carbs, rocker covers and fan.... then I've got to plumb it all up with air, hydraulics and water, then I can start on the bulk head and all that's missing on that...... And all this cuz I want to leave the engine cover side doors off ATB Sean

Also really like the weathering on the penny, the realism is astounding! Thanks mate, it takes many hours from a practised and steady hand to achieve that level of detail.... What can I say...... I'm a slave to my hobby Bit more done tonight..... Carbs and air manifold, fan, pulleys and belts, plus some round box of tricks that sits behind the carbs, still looking for the correct size stock to make the rocker covers from at this time.... I'm happy with the progress so far but may have to put this down for a week or so to finish the Sdkfz 7 I already have started ATB Sean

Engine work is paying off! As for the penny, be careful about making the other coins jealous. It's all about face value remember...

Fitted the rocker covers tonight, believe it or not they are actually made from sections of an old Tamiya M48A3 main gun barrel..... An idea of what will be seen when the top cover goes on, there is still fire wall brackets, plumbing, the steering column and air box yet to add and get in the way though.... Its now on stop for a week or so as I've other projects that need my attentions ATB Sean

Bit more done, etched some tread into the otherwise flat tyres of the K18, not fully happy with the spacings on a couple but after I add some weathering It'll be less obvious..... made the barrel, finished assembling the crew cab, made the bulkhead support brackets, made the steering box and lower half of the steering column... Also started plumbing up the bulkhead..... ATB Sean
