Paper Craft R2D2

My lovely wife got me this kit as a stocking filler for Christmas and as much as I didn't want to start a new build, I am pretty sure the rules are that if your wife gets you something to build it goes straight to the front of the queue!

I am not sure how many hours have gone into this so far but it is quite a few. And at this point I have decided that I despise paper modelling and have great respect for anyone that can do it well.



The instructions had you build the rings individually and then assemble top to bottom, but that was a bit of a problem and I ended up assembling them vertically in sub assemblies and forming the dome last. Plenty more to go but at this stage but I can only stomach about an hour at a time.

Nice work so far! I've been trying some paper modeling recently myself - it's a LOT harder than it looks.

Thanks Dupes. There are some great subjects covered by paper (or cardboard) craft websites, especially sci fi. But the learning curve blows. This kit came in a box with a little book and sound and light module. When everything's going well it can be fun, but the accuracy and parts fit suck

Great to see this aspect of modeling here, too! It must give you a heart attack to work this way! I have seen a SULACO from ALIENS done in paper and a Boing 747 WITH COMPLETE INTERIOR in paper and that chopped me away. For sure!
