Good morning all, Its been a while when I built a tank model. And finally it happened (after having some struggle in a certain shop  ). I heard that Dragon kits are good, but I never ever expected them being THAT good. Even manufacturing logos and tiny welding seams on the small wheels are there. Incredible. There we go:  |

Just be careful in the instructions...there's always, at least, one error (even if just a part numbered wrong) in every Dragon kit I've ever built over the last 10+ years. One kit I built had an error in EVERY instruction step. No joke...  |

You may have noticed the carrier beams between the pairs of two large road wheels? There is small wheel mounted underneath, this is what makes the "Hokuman" different from a standard Ha-Go. When the Japanese forces invaded China they came across acres or rice paddies (I don't remember so clearly) in Manchuria, where the distance between the parting grooves matched exactly the distance of the Ha-Go suspension, leading to many tanks getting stuck! To prevent this they simply turned the beams 180° so they were facing downward and mounted an additional small wheel there. I even believe they just used the support rollers for this task. |

Nice choice of model, interesting Dragon shows a Russian tank in the background. BT 7 I think.

Andy: Yep, Im fine. Japan and its culture & history has always be a special interest for me (and the camouflage patterns too), so this was just a matter of time. Tobi: What a clever solution. I think the Dragon kits are all the same, because there will be carrier beams left (surely meant for later versions). |

Have to watch this as I picked this kit up a few years ago cheap at a Dragon daily special.
I don't mind DS but those little ribbons don't look so good,are you using them or going with indies

Personally I think that every form of rubber bands on an tank model is a sin, except if the original has them this way as well.
But I have read that preforming the DS tracks in hot water can lead to good results.
