Morning Guys,I have a box full of spare parts on sprues.I was wondering if you cut the parts of the sprues to store them.I do have a nice multi bin unit I can use and label the drawers.

Yes! If you have the cabinet and figure out a good way to organize tailored to you, why not? If there are parts that are specific to a subject or subjects you tend to build....road wheels, extra tools and whatnot, this is a great way to store them if needed. Like with DML where you get enough parts to almost build another model, saving a large model box and use ziploc bags for parts that might not fit in the storage rack. Like with Pz. IV parts, DML give 4 to 6 different options on exterior parts. Make up bags labeled glacis, rear deck, radios, alternate return rollers or what-have-you. Great for leftover figures or figure part....pop all the heads in a drawer! Labeling might be the key!

All the parts for my superdetailing or simillar projects are stored in different boxes, sorted after use: For microdetailing or in general. I cut the parts off the sprues, trim them and pack them away. Sometimes I have whole kits for superdetailing my projects, like tank interiors or such, and leave them complete in the box in the closet. But anyway I do it, the biggest work is SEARCH, gulp!

These are the boxes which I work with most times. Decals are stored in a cardboard box.

When I first really started modeling I used a fishing tackle box.............. I'm still using the old modelling box I got 30+ years ago for all of my paints and most of sparea are currently held in a plastic Chinese takeaway box.....
