This is my first figure for our groupbuild, sculpting and casting done by Varga Muhely from Varga Workshop in Hungary. I really love this figure and base, typical Yoda pose and the forces of dark/light beneath his feet. Shot before painting process: Nothing like the smell of some Vallejo surface Primer and some basic base coating with the airbrush! Wooden base was made quickly on the fly, may end up putting a glass bowl on the top..jury is still undecided on this idea though!

The face looks already shaded! Will look awsome when finished, man! But I am more the "natural" fan and would redo the base to a junge/swamp base, maybe with a little critter on it. The idea with the faces is cool and fully ok, but not so my taste. Too fictional (hehe, calling a fiction figure fictional. Sometimes it looks like loosing my mind... If I haven´t already, barks!)

Frank Yeah, a jungle or swamp base would be a more natural "Yoda" like setting but I personally like the light/dark themed base. Hmmm...tempted I am, buy one I must for Frank's idea lol!

Looking good Shay! how's it going with the airbrush? I'm look omg to get mine up and running fairly soon? Andrew Thanks for your reply Andrew! Painting with an airbrush is pure luxury, my GF is happy too..no stinking the garage out with rattle cans lol! Spent a little while working on the little guy's eyes this afternoon. Eyes have always been a pain in the butt for me, a few trials and errors but I'm calling them done. I added some heavily diluted Vallejo Vermillion to the sides of the eyes to give them a more natural appearance. A few coats of Vallejo gloss varnish so they really stand out. Now to get some work done on my Ewok!

Great work on ol´blue eyes! Btw, WHAT is Yoda? A mamal? Reptile, Toad, some kind of critter? Would be interesting to see a female, äh, Yoda! But, hm, maybe he is ONE?

Making good progress on the old master Shay! He's 900 years old after all... Haha..old and slightly fragile..I went to place him back on his perch yesterday and he fell straight on his face. His right ear broke off, luckily it was a relatively clean break and I repaired him quite easily! Thanks Dierk, Frank, Leon, Guy & Bill. Managed some benchtime this evening and started with first and second bases/ highlights and some shading. Hard to tell from the photos but his eyes really stand out now the extra facial areas are painted. I added some heavily diluted Magenta to the inside of his ears for extra depth. His cane and claws are also painted but that photo will be taken under daylight. Quick photos of tonight's progress:

He is looking really good Shay. The earlier pictures with his eyes painted, I wondered if he was possibly wearing a little too much mascara, but it seems to have come together nicely now.

Yoda may look old. But he isnt, hes "green behind his ears" - thats what Germans say for "half baked".
