Good evening all, Saladin is ready, time to tackle the next figure project (and yes, the Spitfire vignette comes along too). Got trhis bust via FB, and its one I looked long time for: the "Lord of Change" from GW. When it came on the market I hesitated to buy it, because my skills werent good enough - nomen est omen, there have to be lots of AB works for the figure. This figure was re-issued in several editions and they got other materials (resine) or another design. If I have the choice, Im choosing white metal, call it old school or something. The guy gave it to me for an affordable price, saved me 20+ bucks (depends where you wanna buy it and which version you get). Good buy, and lots of details to paint. Lucas.

Looking cool so far! GW did some fantastic jobs on figures and I really love their stuff. BUT I keep my wallet closed because of too many fronts working on. When I begin to collect and paint this stuff too, you can visit me at the asyum and see a guy chained to the wall, suffering from brain disease...

I didn't know you could still get him, fairly sure they have discontinued him here. I had the other version of him, the one with the ordinary birds head and different staff, as part of my army, years, and years, and years ago, when I could still afford to play.... Painted his wings using the wet blend method in all the colours of the rainbow, quite literally!!! nearly went mad doing it as it was before I had an airbrush Did the rest of him in the colours of Tzeentch ie Blue and Yellow. Following this one with interest ATB Sean

Hi Lucas, It looks more and more promising. I'll try to make some variation on the soil and on the rocks with different washes, and then some drybrus with acryllics, the coulours you choose for your scenery(if you have some dedicated sets as Model Washes from Vallejo would be nice, if not, you can prepare yourself, with a drop of paint and seven-eight drops of water) in order to have more effect. Be carefull to the soil and the rocks near vegetation, this mean there is some moss, water there, so you could make some transition, for exemple you could apply some washes with different types of green, dark green. Also some washes with grey, blue, combinations on the rocks. Don't forget to point the edges of the rocks with some light grey. What I tell you is from my recent experience, you could see here the results (http://modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/post/292662/thread, modelerssocialclub.proboards.com/post/292745/thread). The vegetation is very fine. Can you tell me its origin? Keep it on, mate, the result will be impresive! Nicolae

Are the plants paper lasercut or Etchparts??? Love this stuff! Have you checked out the LifeColor sets with Moss and Algae (2 sets)? They are perfect for stuff like this!

Many thanks for your support! Ive tried several sets of lasercut plants for several projects. It really depends on the project itself of course - here I used lasercut plants from NOCH. To be more correct: Field & Wildflowers set No. 14056www.tkt-shop.de/WebRoot/Sage/Shops/TKTCSGmbH/4FDC/4A59/6D14/F9F4/FBED/0A0C/05E9/C4F7/gsobild_29763.jpgIt contains 17 plants with lots of fern (6 of them if I remember it correctly), which is perfect for a wood scenery. It costs about 10€ here, and thats a reasonable price. Only two plants are different, they come from a ModelScene sheet and are leftovers from my Ha-Go tank project. Another brand which I really can recommend is ModelScene from Czechoslovakia - I really LOVE their stuff. Price/Value is perfect. www.model-scene.comHope to get some new sets this weekend when Im gonna visit the MiniMax model expo in Decin this weekend. www.facebook.com/events/1681260162159108/ About the colors: Of course this is a "sketch" only, and color will follow, basically like Nicolae descrbed it, with several basic colors, followed by washes, highlights - with a sponge most probably to recreate the stone stucture - and so on.

Compost heaps are a good thing when you need some rots for vignettes. Just added some lasercut leaves ( >>ModelScene, Jungle Set 2) and some paint - thats it.
