i everyone! As my 14th Century Italian knight project will be finished soon, I decided to grab his little gem and start a new project (yeah, I know, I didn't forget Hamlet. In fact, I sucedded to buy another 3 busts fromt that phantastic historical serie released by Heroes and Villains: the pirate, the Roman Senator and the Anglo Normand Crusader, so I'll have a long year!). The bust (1/12) dimensions is sculpted by very talented Matt Grech, owner of El Greco Miniatures brand. They are two principal pieces and a small nasal protection of the helmet. Very well protected in a round metallic box, with a short historical note and some advices for paiting, this bust is really very well cast and will be a pleasure. Mine had a small air buble and some line on the helmet that needed some carefull work. I used a Mr. Dissolved Putty from Mr Hobby to get read off of it. I'm thinking to the colours choice for the textiles. Enjoy some photos with this bust before starting the action! Cheers, Nicolae

Aha we're back in busty business lol !
I like this one because the figurist can totally focus on the head and the helmet, ideal for painters in a learning process. And you being an experienced painter Nicolae it will be nothing but a stunner !

Heh Guy, you're too kind. I'm just a beginner, I'm working so slowly to my projects that I always wonder how manage to keep it on on the road. But, what I like most is to experience and learn, and, as you cleary saw, this bust offers some great opportunities. Cheers, Nicolae

Hi everyone! I made some research and I'll be very tempted to work textiles of my Byzantine mercenary in a blue or purple/ dark red with some yellowish/golden pattern on it (Olga Zernina showed us her technique: www.planetfigure.com/threads/how-i-paint-patterns.52638/). Here are some images:

Thanks Andy. Phase 2, he's becoming uglier! A lot of glazes, try to make some beard traces. I'm playing and playing again!

No, Andy, just wait, he'll become handsome. Not like you, of course. Just wait to see! I've started to work the helmet. As my Scale 75 Metal'n''Alchemy set was abandoned for sometime, I decided to use some colours. Also, I tried to make some weathering effects with 70814 Burnt Cadmium Red, 72745 Charred Brown, 72136 Dry Rust, 72131 Rust, 70921 English Uniform and 72763 Desert Yellow. So Black Metal, then Heavy Metal for the lights. After that I started to make different "used" areas with that Vallejo colours. Then, again, I covered everything with a mix of Black Metal and Heavy Metal, many glazes. The process is not finished yet. Here some results from the first stage. Nic

Thanks a lot my friends! I'm very sorry that my camera is broken so I can't show you the next steps. Untill I gonna receive a new one from the seller or my friend Bogdan could arrive and make some professional photos, I won't be able to post something else. Sorry for this unpleasant situation! Thank you, my friends! Indeed, working this face with so many layers it's not a very pleasant sport, but the results surelly deserve the "pain". The helmet is almost ready, but...no photos, so sorry. I worked with Scale 75, the metallic set, seen in the photos from above. Their pigment is very fine, better then my metallics from Vallejo. Still a long way, Andy! Have inspiration and good luck! Nicolae

Nicolae is totally in the zone ! This is going to be your best ever, the skin tones are very realistic and interesting, the hair ditto. Broche looks very well painted too and the helmet...that's a damn real one !

Thank you, Guy. No, I'm still working to the face, I wanted a reddish couloured instead a normal tone (it's obvious the difference if you compare the first photos at the beginning of the topic with these), still a long way. Somehow the helmet is done but the broche still need some attention. I'll came back with details. Cheers, Nicolae
