Hi all Ever since Sean so kindly sent me the airbrush at the end of last year, I've been wondering what to do about a spray booth, whilst I saved up my pennies for an air source. The thought of having to save even more pennies for a spray booth was depressing. Then, two weeks ago, it proved necessary to have the fan in our bathroom shower replaced - not because it was faulty but because it wasn't quite string enough for our size of bathroom......at which point the little cogs in my head started to turn.....could I use it make my own spray booth? A quick search of the internet suggested defintiely!! However, I really don't do electrics - I can change a fuse, bulb or plug and strip some cable but that's my limit...which is yet again where Sean came to the rescue. A few private messages later I now feel confident in being able to build my own spray booth!! As things currenly stand I was planning to make it out of wood, as it's reasonably cheap and is something my limited DIY skills can cope with - that said I have seen people hack clear plascic boxes around, although they don't look particularly robust. My one issue as always is space - not having a permanent work room - so I was thinking of a design that would allow me to take it apart for easier storage, accepting I need to make sure I have good seals around any joins. As always any ideas or thoughts from the experts out there are more than welcome - I will need them!!! Fnally, below is a pic of the fan around which the booth will be based. All the best. Andrew Sean - thanks as always mate for your advice - Karma +1 on its way My fan!!!!!!!!!

Duct tape would take care of any seam leakage on a temporary booth.

Duct/gaffer tape is aways a good idea. I suppose some piano hinges on the bits of wood would make it possible to sort of flat-pack the booth. I also suggest some skip-surfing: find an old record player - the turntable comes in handy so you can turn the model without touching it. Hope your new bathroom fan is 'string' enough

240 Volts aught to be strong enough:) The Puppy Mats in pet supplies, make great catchers for excess spray and dust.

No dramas old son, always glad to help..... Personally I'd go with the clear plastic box to start with, they're only a couple of quid and if you buy a big enough one and are careful where you position the fan, you could store the compressor and fan hose inside it when your not using it Which ever way you go please make sure the electrics are safe before you plug it in, to be extra safe you could buy a plug in RCD trip to plug the fan into the socket through, though if you've done it right ie. how I described, all should be good Sean

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but you must use an explosion proof fan for a spray booth, otherwise, well, let's say it could be life changing.
