Okay, MSCers. It's been too long since I ran a WIP here. Apologies. I thought what better way to get back in the swing of things than sharing this absurdity with you fine folks. This one came up in part because I was discussing my lack of mojo with some friends. I jkingly mentioned a car, and it turned into a "buddy build" on my Facebook group (see my sig if interested). So, here we are. I'll WIP it here for you fine folks. And there's a good chance you may see another pop up from someone else... The Kit: When in doubt, Tamiya! So, I'll be doing this scheme which is from (1976 I believe) 24 hours of Le Mans. I picked this one for a couple reasons. 1) Someone picked the pink one before me, and I like the bright colors. 2) 69 hehe. Studio 27 Decals...supposed to be the car decals to use. I'm also adding HGW laser cut belts, and I MAY grab some machined wheels instead of the plastic options. Ok, so this one I'm not supposed to start until March 1st, but screw the police...I may get going a day or so early. I'm also going to use the Zero paint and 2-part gloss system on this, so wish me luck, and thanks for joining.

What? No Zimmerit? Being a 1/35 guy I do prefer Ferdinand Porsche's earlier work but I do like this! Cars were still cars and not computers on wheels.

Man....first off I've gotta say that I'm floored. Secondly I'll say that Jim...you're in for a real exciting ride. The more you know about the automotive world, the more you're going to love building this. Don't forget that automotive AM directory that I set up. There's more things available to the automotive modeling world in terms of AM than a lot of folks think so have at it. Thirdly from one aircraft builder to another the biggest challenge I faced was the gloss finish. If you haven't already, get yourself some sanding pads like this... and again if you don't have it.....this stuff: If you need anything let me know. If I can't answer it , I've got friends that can. Really looking forward to this one Jim. Be careful not to get hooked.......

Cool, another car builder...Just remember, one can't cover up flaws with mud and dust. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to try to squeeze in some preliminary work in on this one tonight, but I've got something pretty big that just landed on my doorstep to crack into for the magazine, so we'll see.

I do. But my hope is that the Dornier will be done for the April show. It certainly needs to be! The Fort though, that isn't happening. Lol.

I hope so. I want to get it to publication so I can get to the B-17 and have it done so that article is ready when the kit hits the hobby shops.
And I've also got the Kitty Hawk Kingfisher going for Scale Modeling Now...but thankfully I don't have any pressing deadline on that.

That kind of building pressure seems like it would take the fun out of it.

Okie dokie. I'm into this one now. First order of business was priming the body shell. First I had to remove some casting seams, but nothing too troublesome. I too was thinking of using Zero primer, but the guys at Zero have clearly said it's for professionals, so I thought I should leave it alone. Besides, why mess with what works? No keying, no washing parts, just a nice coat of Mr. Surfacer 1500. All of this was orange plastic though, and even with black it took some work to get full coverage. Also got through the underside parts assemble. Next will be to detail paint all of this. The axles are just snap fitted gotta love Tamiya fit.

Not gluey, gluey as requested but painty, painty - still, nice to see something worth seeing happening.
