Hi,
Just wondering what brand of Varnish people tend to use on acrylic finishes?
I used to use the aerosol based Citadel range; whilst you had less control over the distribution the protection it offered was fantastic.
Recently I have been using the Vallejo range which requires diluting with water before you can pass it through the airbrush. This then has the knock on effect of some areas of your model having a thinner layer of protection than others etc.
So I am curious what other people are using and what results you are experiencing.
Thanks as always

I use only Vallejo varnish, no experiments.

I have been using Vallejo varnishes as well. I thin the Matt maybe 50/50 but with their airbrush thinner only....there is too much surface tension with water alone. I tend to put a drop of thinner for every 5 drop of varnish in the Satin...the Gloss, which I don't typically have a use for, I do not have to thin.

Testor's Dullcoat has always given me consistent results.

I'm going to be honest...I don't really like varnishes at all (always a chance to mess things up) and hardly use them. If I use them rarely (like for decal application) I spray on Tamiya X-22 Clear for gloss and I've used the Model Master one for dull coats...
Cheers

I agree in testers dullcoat as well, just be careful as that stuff can be "hot" and affect some decals.

I still use Future I don't know why but I have always been bitten by the flat clears.. They always turn white on me.
