Here is a small vignette of 2 Saxon warriors defending a path/causeway in marshy fenland type country in the 10th century. This model was inspired by the TV series the Last Kingdom which has recenctly been on British TV. The figures are in 54mm scale sculpted by the very talented Ian Succamore, and I got mine from Martin Dorey of MDP. I have also used some paper plants from Fredricus Rex of Germany and I have made some reeds from wire and paper. The models were painted in Scale 75, Andrea & Vallejo acrylics, the metal parts were depicted using a combination of acrylic paints and pencils. I adapted the shield of the cloaked figure by putting on some metal strakes and rivet detail as I figure he was slightly higher in the social order than the axman. Please enjoy. Dennis

I wouldn't want to be facing them! Oh hold on, I am of the Krauty persuasion, so I'd probably be with them rather than against them Splendid work Dennis!

Hi Dennis,
I like how you built your scenery. Even the figurines don't seem be very spectactular, you raised their level by your scratch elements and painting (a particular note to the helmets). I appreciate how you manage to well integrate the figurines in the natural landscape. Fine composition and an equilibrate vignette! Good job, my friend! Nicolae
