Thanks to everybody who followed along and offered encouragement during the last 3 months of construction. Full set of 17 pictures can be found here: www.coldbasementmodels.com/?page_id=334There is a very, very small chance that this one will make the IPMS show in Columbia. But there is a much larger chance that it will make an appearance in Omaha in 2017. In either case, I'll plan to include at least one stormtrooper figure before this goes to a show. Thanks for watching! John

Hi John,
Instead of thanking us for watching, we should be thanking you for letting us watch.
What an exceptional build, fantastic in every respect, subject, build, finish, speed and workmanship.
Hats off to you Sir, thank you for the show.
So....what's next?

The next thing is to clean out the shop. But after that I need to finally finish this diorama:
I'm guessing the boat will be done within another month or so. But after that...I had so much fun building the lander that I'm giving serious consideration to one of these, also in 1/35 scale:
I would guess the chances of Dragon producing one of these as a kit is about 0%. But I've got acres of sheet plastic remaining which would do well as a Quadjumper.

Awesome scratch built!! I love it. The paint job is great, too. It needs only a bunch of storm troopers...

I was going to ask what kit this was, then I saw someone mention scratchbuilding.
Holy cow, that's impressive, most impressive. Is there a build log on here.

Wow! Thanks, everybody!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've found that scratchbuilding something for which there are only a few references is actually not very difficult. The hard part is in building up a collection of weird tools (resin casting, odd Dremel attachments, loose old parts, putty sculpting tools, etc) and assorted materials which to make it possible.
It's not the skills which prevent guys from building their dream projects, but rather just the challenge in gathering all the necessary crap.

There's more truth to that than you know John...it's amazing how much 'junk' is often needed at just the moment when you don't have it in this hobby.
