Still doing my search for a couple 259/9 half tracks, but none is sight. I did covet a PzKw IV.J and almost came home with it. What I came home with was the Cyber Hobby BF109e3 kit in 1/32 scale. Also picked a Cyber Hobby 1/72 scale Hell Diver (SB2c3).
The 109 is fantastic like their e4b. It even came with wing tank and bomb racks even though they were not used in the Battle Of Britain. The supplied decal sheet is far better than the e4b kit! Clear parts appear tobe for the e3 only, but I may be wrong here.
The Hell Diver is one of the best 1/72 kits I've ever seen! The engine alone looks like the Revell FW190 kit scaled down! Wing folds are included. Everything looks very nice. Only complaint is the lack of the "L" shaped window. Yet there were many built without that window. The bomb bay is a sight to see! Couldn't tell much about the wheel wells, but from what I see they look very nice.
Now I wonder what their BF110 is like?

Gary, for the 251/9, I take it you mean in 35th scale. I am surprised you are finding it hard to find, there are at least 4 out there and should all still be available. Do you have a preference to which version.

Do you have a preference to which version. Not the 251/9, but the 250/9. Different animal with little in common. Have a need for two kits. One will become a 250/7 mortar carrier, and the other will be a 253 or 252 half track conversion. Dragon did either the 253 or the 252 (I have the kit), but nobody did the other. The turret off the first 250/9 goes atop a small recon track conversion that starts out with a Panzer 38T. gary P.S. Tamiya did the early version, and Dragon did the "Neu" or late version. Looking for the older Tamiya kits. Have a book with drawings and tons of photos, but no kits!

Right, got ur. Was sure if you meant 250 or 251, so just took a punt. I know Dragon did the 253, I have that kit as well. I can see why you need that kit for your conversions. I can't say I have seen the Tamiya kit, in fact I thought they had only done the /3.
There is a 251 version of the 250/9, the 251/23. That's my dream armour kit, dyeing to get hold of one of those.

Never heard of the 251/23! Tamiya did a fairly good version of the 250/9. Showing it's age, but also the only game in town. Dragon did the 250/9 Neu, and will not work. I have the Tamiya kit buried in my stash, but want to keep it a 250/9. I love half tracks! I saw some picks the otherday of a 251/1? with 80mm rocket rails (I'd guess 24 rails). This looked like a field mod, and would be really neat. One thing we need is the ammo trailer that was used behind the 252 and in some cases behind the 253. They must have used a lot of 253's, as most arty units had a couple. (all I've seen were eastern front). Somehow I always thought most of my German half tracks were 250 series, but it was the opposite by a two to one ratio. Also have several of the larger framed half tracks. I keep hoping that Dragon or GWH will do new tool Panzerwerfers. GWH already makes about 80% of the SWS version, and Dragon does the Ford Maultier half track. These are my favorite half tracks gary

I am a bit of a 251 fanatic myself, currently sitting on 30 kits, I would like to build one of every version and variant, but that's 63. The /23 is a late war recon version, though there is some debate as to if it entered service. The only kit was a Cyber Hobby white box which is rarer than unicorns horn. The one with the rocket rail on, is it this one. If so, this is an American conversion using a captured 251 and the rocket system used on some Sherman tanks.

I've seen that photo, but there's also one using the Russian rail style. Not as many rockets as well. It to might have been captured by the Russians. I don't know. Back to the 251/250 with the turret. I've always thought the turret off the 222/223 armored car was identical, but alas an error in my thinking. The one off the 234/1 is correct. You'd have thought there's have been anafter market one sold by now! gary

Ok, not seen that one with the Russian rockets. Will have to have a look fo rthat. You are correct in in that the turret is the same as that on the 234/1. Aber does a PE one, www.hannants.co.uk/product/ABR35A33I have been thinking about using this to do a /23.

The guns and pedestal mount are not included. The turret off the Dragon 234/1 might be the better route. The gun mount and gun itself are a little better detailed than the Tamiya 250/9 or their reboxed Tamiya 234/1. Problem with that is that 234/1 kits are getting harder to find (Dragon)these days. The left over hull can be reworked to use the turret off the 231 armored car (might be the one off the Luchs). Too bad it wasn't Asuka doing the 234/1. Then we'd simply buy the sprus to built the turret! gary

Send me a PM if you're interested and we can work out the final details.
