I don't know how you do it. One little piece of plastic at a time. It's good to be able to adapt the overall plan to fit with the loose parts sitting on the bench in front of you. Over the course of a few hours the final shape will grow almost by itself. I got the model home and was able to start playing around with interior lighting. These are too bright and will need some resistors to dim them down in the final model. Lighting needs to be mounted early in the project to allow other interior elements to be constructed around the lights. Cockpit end, looking aft. Aft hatch looking forward.

Are you planning on hitting the IPMS Nats next month? Sorry to say I'm going to miss the 2016 show. I'm going mountain climbing instead. (Long story.) But I am planning to load up the car with about 10 largish dioramas for Omaha 2017! See you there.

LOL...Omaha is still undecided...but probably will happen. The puppet mater in Spain pulls those strings! LOL! Kind of a bizarre place to have it if you ask me. Wonderfest next June though...it's on!

Maybe it's all automated and the crew are just passengers? Love the modifications, definitely gives it more of a 'piloted' feel to the cockpit.

Ten days on the road and now I'm going to go climb a mountain in the morning. But I did get a little bit of actual modelling done! The interior is juuuuuussssst about finished. There will be some equipment to mount against the walls of the aft section and then I'll be ready to fully enclose the cabin. I've got a basic plan for the very complex windscreen. If that plan should fail.....I don't want to consider being unable to do a good job of the windscreen. This "feels" about right given the limited reference available.
The tiny little aerodynamicist which lives inside me screams out in pain at this. But Star Wars ships are not often known for their clean lines. Doing it this way allows for a more secure mount against the hull and also provides a place to mount extra dodads, gizmos and maybe even a contraband laser cannon. I'm satisfied with the levels on the lighting. These were taken in a darkened room. The effect is far less dramatic in good ambient lighting.

Enjoy the mountain & good luck with the front screen.

Some forward movement. Not sure yet if I like the chipping. I may go back and fix that.

The thing is home-ported on Jakku, a desert world. With all the sand that's bound to get into the air, it's going to be well abraded (especially along the leading edges) from the take-off/re-entry phases of it's flights. So chipping is in order, it's only how you want it to look that matters...
Regards,
M

I'm thinking he just doesn't like how the chipping turned out. Not that he's not going to do it. Maybe he doesn't like where it's chipped, or the formations. He'll figure it out and "wow" us like he always does.
