Good evening, just couldnt resist to get this figure. It was sculpted by Ulrich Puchala, and there arent too many of them - I got No. 11, according to the hand signed instruction. The cast was executed by YS Masterpieces (Greece). It consists of four very well molded pieces: - head -torso -lower half of the right arm -EK base stand Prinz Heinrich von Preussen was the commander of the Baltic fleet in 1916. So far I painted the wooden base for him and the EK base.

Base is great! Figure not so my cup of tea, but hey, personal taste rules! Just wondering that Puchala sculpts still on! One of the best German sculpters around (remember talking to him way back in the 90ties for his DAY DREAM series), but relative "unkown" so far. Great guy, by the way.

Get the blues on. This was done with AB of course, including some lighter accents for the top. The golden stripes and knobs got some brass & gold, and finally some decent washing and a tiny amount of silver. Puchalas bust has some very useful references in its box btw., that saves you some google-time.

Dont hesitate. All you need is some basic color (in this case Vallejo Flesh base from the Panzer Aces set), some brown washing and a bit of red and white. Once the basic color is dry, tone it down with a brown washing, add some red to the basic color and paint the cheeks and chin area. Then you paint the highlights (cheek, nose tip) in very thin layers - and thats all the magic. Painitng busts can be really challenging of course, because theyre far bigger than lets say 1/35 figures. On the other hand, 1/35 figures are very good for practicing these techniques. Youll get better with every try (and I have to learn a lot too of course ).

Another great work! Really dig the base too. How many did you finish while I was gone for only two weeks?

Three I think? This bust, an U-Boat (Beaver) and the Sgt. Connor figure.
