I have finally finished a model. After retiring. In April l thought l would really crack on with my modelling; wrong! I have made paint racks, reorganised my stash, sorted out my books/magazines, reorganised my modelling room and 101 other tasks rather than paint. Now l am past that and have got back to modelling and here is the finished result. The model is a 54mm resin figure called The Cavalier from elan13 miniatures here in the UK. It was sculpted by Ian Succamore and is very well cast by Rob Lane of elan13. It is a very reasonably priced model especially when you consider that it comes with 2 right hands, one holding a rapier type sword and the one l have used holding a pistol. The rapier hand has been stored on some card in my newly reorganised stash. As you can see lan has sculpted this guy nonchalantly eating an apple. I painted this figure I with usual acrylic paints from Andrea, Scale 75 and Vallejo. To give this guy some context l decided to pose him in a graveyard shooting at another apple on top of a gravestone. This involved me making a slightly larger base than I would normally use for a 54mm figure. I therefore sculpted out of Milliput have a dozen or so apples which I placed in a bowl. Rather than have a open base I made a background wall out of Super Sculpy on a piece of MDF into this I mounted some wooden tongue depressors and home made bits of wattle poking through the worn daub to represent a part, of a timber framed building, The ivy, grass, plants came from my scenic aids box. The gravestone was also made out of shaped MDF with a coating of Super Sculpy, l pressed some plastic letters into the gravestone and also pressed in a home cast skull, the moss is flock coloured with ink. To add some more detail l made out of 3mm plasticard a pistol box complete with a powder bottle, a ramrod and a bag containing pistol balls. This was an enjoyable project that got me back into the swing of painting, thank you for popping in and I will post again soon.

Excellent work! But I do hope the cavalier isn't finished aiming yet, or he'd miss by miles

Thanks guys, Dierk, having got this guy on his base I have decided to re-title him from The Iconclast to "The Iconclast Takes Aim, English Civil War." As you have pointed out he would have missed by a mile even allowing for the fall of shot. I think this new title reflects the model better.
Thanks everyone for your comments, I will post again soon.
