Good evening everyone. Since when am I building planes again? Literally very seldom, I guess. Once in a lifetime you have to do a kit that is a true classic. And what could be more classic than a Bf 109... Since the first time I saw Gablers Mosquito hunter, I was hooked. A Bf 109 in bare metal finish (for less weight, that is) - thats something you really dont see very often except in an aircraft factory hall. Who was Kurt Gabler? And what does his G-6 look like? levbek.blogspot.de/2011/05/kurt-gablers-jg300-bf-109g-6-natural.htmlTheres some trouble with the wings - some say its RLM 75 on top and RLM 76 on the belly (the Eduard instructions for example). Some say its all natural metal - what makes sense somehow, all paint stripped off should give even better performance. Now lets go and hunt some Mossies! :peace:

Unusual subject - so you'll even have the interest of a non-wingy guy like me.

Good to have you here Dierk. Another Eduard kit made it to the bench - couldnt say no to the 30 % off.

The fighter builds itself almost. Everything fits and thers only little sanding neccessary. I made up my mind how the base should look like too. Theres a small firm who does laser cutting, and I asked them to make me a "type sign"/base label for it. Lets see if they can do it. Additional details (rudder, spinner + prop, figure, armchair):

Some time was left today, and I painted the metallic color - this happened with an Airbrush of course and with Vallejo metallics. After having good results with my MiG 15, this is what happened with the Messerschnitzel. I love that moment when small parts like canopy, rudder and the propeller are test fitted on the belly.

Shiny & Chrome... So far the belly is done, and the decals are on. The decals are very thin and you wont even need softener. After a horrible moment (one of the "8" screwed up) all went well. Close call. Via Photoshop I created a sign and most probably I wont go for the lasercut variant (but Ill keep that in mind for later projects). Only smaller parts are left, ant these are the most time consuming I guess. Mr. Gabler himself will sit in a chair in front of the machine (comes from Eduards Luftwaffe 1944 set):

Many thanks. Mr. Gabler takes a seat in his chair. I made a sketch for the cloth pattern in Photoshop and printed it - Eduards instructions are very helpful here because they include the measures for the cloth (9x35mm):

Great work on the chair Lucas! Heer Gabler looks very relaxed and waiting for his next mission.

Always neat to see the little personal touches that you add to a project Lucas.

Wow Lucas I've been out of the loop a bit lately and completely missed out on this one. Superb work all the way around. And speed building as well. A very impressive finish.

The black and white photo threw me for a minute. I thought it was a real photo of him and his plane. Great job

Catching up here... I see another great finish! I want to be that guy sitting and laying back with a smile waiting for a beer to be delivered. Did I mention how much I love your beer?
